I think the Chargers will push them as well. Harbaugh is a great coach. In his 2nd year with the 49ers he went 11-4-1 and went to the Super Bowl. 2nd year at University of San Diego 11-1. Second year at Michigan 10-3. Took him 3 years at Stanford to get going but he didn’t have nearly as much talent there to start as he did in other places and with the Chargers. He has done great every where. Think the Chargers will be the sleeper team that could give teams trouble. Their defense will probably be really good this year. Running game you would think would be even better in the 2nd year of his scheme. 3 1 1 Quote

I'm way more concerned with Vrabel out-coaching us and pulling a fast one on McD to squeak out a last minute FG and win by 1-2points than I am worried about their talent on the field. But to that point, our guys better be ready to play when we face NE because Vrabel will have his guys ready for a physical game. Edited July 25 by DrDawkinstein 1 Quote

I agree I would take him over Jones. But he doesn't seem like a player Beane would want to bring in. Then again the Pats in the Brady era were always willing to take chances on a few "Bad Apples" because they felt like their culture was strong enough that they could either quickly get rid of or "shape up" a guy with a bad rep. Most of the time the guys they kicked tires on malcontents it didn't work out (Chad Johnson, Albert Haynesworth, Antonio Brown, Josh Gordon, and Michael Floyd) but the few times they hit it was usually a pretty big win everyone knows Randy Moss but they also hit on Corey Dillion and Aquib Talib. I think McD for all the critiques you can have of him (some legit some not in my opinion) has built a very strong culture here. I think if Beane thinks there's meat on the bone with a "bad apple" now and again on a low risk contract I don't see why you can't take a risk. They tried with Claypool last season and he got hurt. If Wilkinson is brought in I don't see the issue. DT despite the Saunders pick in round 2 and the Walker pick in round 4 as well as the Larry O acquisition is still a bit of a softer spot on the roster. Kicking the tires on Wilkinson who has high end upside might not be the worst idea. Quote

I dont think Josh is petty, and I believe he's willing to do what's best for the team, but that might be a hard sell to the face of our franchise. I dont know. Depends on how personally he takes those cheap physical attacks. I know I would have a tough time bringing that guy into the locker room if I were Josh. But who knows. Players have very different perspectives and relationships than us fans. Quote

Sometimes a lot of these rival players like to "have that guy on my side" mentality. But given that Josh is who the whole franchise is built around and Wilkinson is a fringe acquisition Josh gets to have "veto power" on the signing. 1 Quote

It would require Josh's approval, I'd love to know what his real answer is. Quote

PoundingDog Posted July 25 Posted July 25 If Wilkens can help the Bills win more games than what they have now and future, then they would sign him. I don't see Allen or anyone would have a problem. The Question is does he. #1 is the health. The Raiders should know better than anyone about his health, especially a projection when he'll be able to contribute. Carroll is a capable coach, not one of those dump ones. The fact they took a big dead cap to release him now make you wonder what they think of the situation. #2 is that Wilkens is going to be 30 coming December (in comparison to Oliver, while drafted in the same class, is going to be 28 in December). So if he's not able to contribute much this year, you are looking at an over-30, coming off rehab DT next season. 1 Quote

dollars 2 donuts Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Christian Wilkins likely about to put ink to paper as either a Raven or a Chief because that is just the way it goes. ...even if he ends up getting bigger offers from the NFC. Quote

Right. Keep in mind that even Mitch Morse, Mr. Classy, Mr. Unflappable Professional, went after Wilkins like a Bull-dozer chasing a Cow-dozer after Wilkins shoved Josh And that was the reaction of the reserved, restrained classy OLman.
