For anyone keeping tabs, CB Trey Amos has reportedly been “lights out” in camp and is likely to start for the Commies. I know there was a lot of back and forth between him, Hairston, and the Michigan corner, who’s also looking good.

There's a chance that Amos would have reportedly struggled in camp, just like Hairston and Elam. Bedford aside, a small suspicion is growing in me that McDermott is demanding to the point of intimidating the secondary players he drafts, not allowing some players to develop as they would under more supportive coaches. My niggling suspicion will grow stronger if Elam turns into a star and Hairston is another "bust."

Switch the rounds Elam and Benford were taken in and I think your perspective will change.

McD is a DB whisperer. Besides Tre at the end of the first round, he turned Hyde/Poyer into pro bowl safeties, took Benford and developed him into a solid #1 CB. He made serviceable CBs out of Dane Jackson and Levi Wallace. He developed Cam Lewis into a solid contributory player. Hell, he took a completely unathletic Hamlin and turned him into a starting safety (certainly uprgradeable)

I think the body of evidence is that Elam just didn't’ get it here for whatever reason. It isn’t a lack of coaching skill thats for sure. Some guys just need a different environment.

The bills had one of the best CB coaches in Butler who left in 2024. He helped a lot for these guys.

Agreed, but with respect to Elam, at the time it was reported that Elam had issues with Butler, or quite possibly mutually.  It was speculated that he would be a different player freed from Butler which did not happen.  I just don’t think he ever fit in, and frankly, I don’t think he is very bright.  Just not a good fit for this team.

I hope he succeeds with the cowboys. I hope everyone chasing their dream succeeds. Except Travis Kelce. He's a douche canoe.

Maybe but I don’t think that will matter with his records and super bowls and rich gf or fiancé or wife (idk what they are now) when people think about if he succeeded or not haha personally I wanted to draft him in 2013. Believe me I wish he would have failed too

To be fair, I've seen Stevie Johnson do the exact same thing

Did Stevie enter that particular game playing his own music and with an entourage?

I'm sure there have been plenty of Bills who do and did stuff like that. However, most if not all of them are not building the comprehensive pile of douchebaggery quite as quickly as Shedeur Sanders is.

If he hasn't reached all of his dreams yet ya have to credit the guy for aiming high.
