Taps is the saddest musical piece out there imo.

 

But, for a song by a group I'd have to go with this one...

The backstory to the album this is from is interesting:

 

According to Wilson, the concept album is written from a female perspective, and the concept and story are inspired by the case of Joyce Carol Vincent, where a woman living in a large city dies in her apartment and no one misses her for over two years, despite her having family and friends.

But really, my "grief theme song" was Garth Brooks-The Dance. It fits with the theme of the thread.

back to our regularly scheduled collection of sad song dance music!

 

 

I will cry to this song because of a friends suicide. Sad and mad, happy and resentful, glad I knew him but wished I never did. It wasn't fair but it's what he chose. I'll never get over it.
