Sabres use #9 pick to draft defenseman Radim Mrtka. He looked thrilled to join a team that hasn’t made the playoffs for 4/5ths of his life.

I was just as excited that the Sabres chose him if that matters. We will be fortunate to see him on the ice in 2029.

Well… consolation is that if he does develop into a decent player history shows that the Sabres will trade him for some hot dog water, whereupon he has a relatively high chance to soon win a Stanley Cup.

I wonder when we get to the point where players frequently refuse to sign with the Sabres. Brendan Lemieux did that and got himself dealt as a 2nd rounder.

He looked pretty happy most of the time. I'm so glad a photographer managed to catch that expression so we can build an entire narrative about what he was feeling. Because it never gets old.

Yeah, the Sabres didn't need a top 4 right shot D-man and a gritty third liner to replace the creampuffs on this team now.

So no relo team?  Asking for a Sabres fan friend...

I guess not. I didn't even know the league was looking to expand.

Been having this argument with someone for decades about how Ralph kept the team in Buffalo when he could have moved it, and the same goes for the Sabres.  The other person claimed there was never anywhere for him/the Bills/the Sabres to go.

The New Orleans and Austin things are new.  If there are/is a billionaire interest, and they fail to procure one of these 2-4 expansion franchises, they could target an existing team.  The Sabres heading toward no-lease-land in a bad arena, and unprecedented fan apathy would be a prime target.

Yup.  Sabres fans just might get their wish for a new owner...

He should sell as he has run the team into the ground. He has the Bills who are a cash cow to his bank account. The Sabres not so much.

Actually, looking at the empty seats at a Sabres game, I think the Sabres are a negative cash flow for Pegs. He probably chips in monthly to cover expenses.

The Bills and the Bandits generate cash, lots of it.

Terry bought the Bills for 1.4B. They are now worth over 4B in 2025.
