Thought this would be a fun exercise. We all have opinions on different guys. Instead of using this thread to disagree with someone else’s list, go on record ranking the QBs how you see it as of today. Here’s mine:

1. Allen

2. Lamar

3. Burrow

4. Mahomes

5. Daniels

6. Hurts

7. Staford

8 Baker

9. Herbert

10. Dak

11. Stroud

12. Goff

13. Love

14. Nix

15. Purdy

16. Geno

17. Kyler

18. Tua

19. Darnold

20. Lawrence

21. Ward

22 Maye

23. Rodgers

24. Caleb Williams

25. Young

26. Penix

27. McCarthy

28. Fields

29.  Russell Wilson

30. Richardson/Dimes

31. Flacco

32. Shough

Mahomes at 4 is crazy talk.

His playoff resume is among the best ever. His defense in several of those years was a liability

Chris Simms just did his top 40 QB countdown. This was his top 10:

Here's where I'm at, entirely based on their play right now not on their career. I put a line in between what I consider to be a significant drop off from one tier to the next.

1) Allen

2) Jackson

3) Mahomes

4) Burrow

-----

5) Stafford

6) Daniels

7) Stroud

8 ) Herbert

9) Goff

10) Mayfield

-----

11) Hurts

A bit disrespectful.  I'd take Hurts over all of them.  Stafford and Daniels as well, now that I'm thinking about it.

Hurts is 1 costly fumble away from being a 2-time Super Bowl champ.

It’s a team game. When his defense gave up 35 points to the Eagles in Super Bowl 57 he had to drive his team to get the winning points at the end of the game. Same as when his defense gave up OT points to SF in Super Bowl 58. He drove his team for the winning touchdown. Just saying.

Hurts is QB5 to me too. He is not the 5th best passer. But that's a different question. When I look at the entire package, the leadership is off the charts, the 600 plus rushing yards every year and the ability in the clutch... I think that puts him at the head of that group after the elite guys.

I think there is a fundamental inconsistency @Kirby Jackson and @HappyDays between having Mahomes 3rd or 4th based on "other guys playing better the last two years" and then still having Matt Stafford at #7 and #5 respectively.

Over the past two seasons if you look at:

- passing yards

- completion rate

- touchdowns

- passer rating

- yards per attempt

Across ten data points over two seasons Matt Stafford is top 10 in exactly 1 of those ten - yards per attempt in 2023.

I love Matt Stafford. He has had a great career and he will be an interesting HoF debate when he comes up in years to come. But over the past three seasons since he won that Superbowl he has been closer to the 15th best Quarterback in football than the 5th. I know he had the elbow injury in 2022 and that might be part of the explanation but I think he is what he is right now. I still have him in my franchise group but while for almost 10 years (even when he was in Detroit) I banged the drum that he was a top 6 Quarterback and at the top of that "best of the rest" category, I think he is towards the backend of that group now.

You know what's enjoyable?  Having a top QB for the first time in forever, and not really caring about where he, or anyone else ranks

Because on any given day - no matter who's on the other sideline, he can put our team on his shoulders and lead us to a championship

The only thing is for him to get a couple of super bowls.  That is all on McDermott...I hope he doesn't fail him this time

He actually could be part of the Elite group.

It doesn't have to count for anything. QBs have a lower impact on single game wins than most fans think. They're probably worth like 30% or less of the team's overall success. Which of course makes them by far the most important player on the team, but the rest of the team taken as a whole is still more impactful. This is the same line of thinking that makes a lot of Eagles fans argue to the death that Hurts is a top 5 QB, but when you watch him play there is a clear drop off.

Disagree..

As much as Mahomes had an average season, he lifted his game up in the Championship game...2 Rushing TD and a passing TD...and had the ball in his hands when the clock stuck 00:00.  He had a huge impact on the game willing his team to victory.

I would take Stafford and Goff over Hurts.

The Eagles have put so much around Hurts it’s unbelievable.  Howie Roseman is so much ahead of other GM’s it’s not funny.  Not sure how they do it so much better, drafting, feee agents, salary cap, etc.  But I tip my hat.    Beane has been good.  Top tier GM.  But Roseman stands alone w the results.

Someone do a list of GM’s and owners.  That would be really interesting.  Or a top 100 NFL players like the NFL Network does.

I had him in a tier with Baker, Herbert, Goff, Dak and Stroud. I put him at the top of the tier because he has won one. I kind of used that as a tiebreaker but I’m talking out of both sides of my mouth because I had Hurts and Daniels in the same tier and put Daniels above him (which I could easily have the other way). There were some that just came down to the “eye test.”

Allen

Mahomes

Jackson

Burrow

I think you can swap 2 and 3, but to me 1 and 4 are clear.

My big takeaway from a lot of of QB rankings (not just the ones on here), is that Stroud continues to be highly overrated, and Baker underrated.

This is pretty solid compared to some things people throw out. Honestly only change is maybe Tua 4-5 spots higher. I get we beat the crap out of Miami and he usually isn't great against us, but overall he is more in the Top 15 QB wise then not.

It is funny I think Stafford is more top 10 at this point and right around 10... but it shows with good coaching and a good roster he at times can perform in the top of the top... which is the inverse of his time in Detroit which was bad coaching most of the time with not great rosters where he was closer to being a top 5 guy but it never fully showed because of those factors.

Pre LAR I would say no HOF, now thanks to the success with the Rams I would probably say yes. All three post seasons in LAR he has been really really good which helps his case with voters fair or not. He really did carry a skeleton of a franchise for a while which will do him will with voters now that he got a lot more regular season success and a ring.

I agree.   The Fins seem to be built to win fantasy league championships not NFL championships.   They're all explosive passing game flash without enough solid underpinnings on the rest of the roster, so they look really great against poor teams but struggle against good ones.

Yea I think the "eye test" would tell you the past 3 years Stafford has not played as well as any of those guys you have him grouped with. So it is a Championship from 4 years ago that raises him up. I just think that is slightly inconsistent with the way you have ranked those in the elite group.

Case and point supporting this. The games before and after the Bills Rams shootout which Stafford was quite good (320 yds 2 TDs) he had 183 yds vs the Saints and 160 yds vs SF. They won both games, but he was not a major factor. The biggest thing is in the post season he was really good again which does raise a QBs profile.
