Two Bills games on the NFLN today. Two of the more exciting wins the Bills had last year.

This is actually a good night for a Bills replay. The Stanley Cup Finals don't start until Wed and the Yankees are off today.

Forgot how the Bills could have really gone up 20-7 late in the 2nd qtr but two bad plays, they let KC right back into it. After a big punt return to KC’s 40 yard line, Josh threw a brutal pass to Samuel on 2nd and 9 that would have gone for a big gain. Then after a Josh’s scramble, they elected to go for it on 4th and 3. Josh threw a bad interception as Knox and him weren’t on the same page. Rather than going up 20-7, KC scored a TD to go up 14-13. As we all know, the Bills would win but it was a stark reminder, how the Bills have to get cleaner in their execution if they want to win it all. Ultimately, the lack of execution is what cost them getting to the SB last year. 
 

KC simply has executed better against us when it’s mattered  in the playoffs.

There were some great moments last season. Terrel Bernard with the game winning pic was probably my favorite. The cutaway shot to the fans going crazy was beautiful.

KC is a scrappy team. They can make the plays they need at the right moments. Even when things aren't going their way, they usually get back into it.

 

That Josh Allen run to win the game was one of the most clutch plays I've ever seen.

I think Ben Johnson said he hates the sneak because it eliminates the chance at a big play. Some might not feel this way, but I always want Allen in shotgun on 4th and 1 with a run pass option. We might convert a few less, but we might also hit some home runs that could change the outcome of a game. Allen is just too dangerous in that spot to telegraph everything on the sneak. It's a waste of what could be possible in that situation.

If the Bills were bad, then how much worse was the Detroit defense? Sometimes we play good teams too. 

 

My impression watching that game was how good James Cook is and maybe we should pay him.

I'd only do it on 3rd and 1 or less because Allen's not a good deep ball passer.  Get the first with the high percentage play and extend drives.

My biggest what if is what if Justin Reid doesn't go offside on the extra point, which we then elected to go for 2 and missed. Small play often missed in the overall importance of what happened afterwards.

I agree but it also feels like the regular season Chiefs operate differently than the postseason version. For instance, there is no way in hell Spagnuolo is not spying Allen on the 4th down TD play if the game had occurred in January.

I think the intention is to still have Josh run with it about 90% of the time. If/when defenses want to get overzealous, he will have options for a big play. As we saw with KC in the regular season when the defenses wants to condense like that a big play can also very easily happen in the run game. I don't think it is something we do literally every 4th and short, but I would like to see it much more frequently vs being so dependent on the sneak
