Kincaid played one season of high school football. He caught one pass in 2020, then he played two years of college ball before coming to the Bills. Expecting him to be "plug and play" at the position that typically requires the most ramp up time is ridiculous.

On the Edmunds note, you say he didn't have an OBVIOUS replacement. How about Terrel Bernard, who was drafted by the Bills in the 3rd round of 2022 despite Edmunds being on the roster? He played behind Edmunds an entire year, then became a great starter immediately in 2023 the moment Edmunds left. Is that not an obvious replacement?

I'm opting out on the rest of this thread. Enjoy.

Good because I am already sick of you moving the goal post with your bad arguments.    You were mad that I said the trade-up for Kincaid hasn't proven worth it to this point.........and then you are saying Beane made a "ridiculous" evaluation plugging him in immediately and "expecting" results because in your eyes he was totally unprepared for the NFL.   The fans didn't give him all that playing time and targets.  The team did.    I mean, pick a lane for fuxake.😂

You don't pick a non-premium position like TE in round 1 and then hope he starts playing like a first rounder in year 3 or 4.

Fred Warner is very good. But I wouldn't want to dedicate 21m a year to the Middle Linebacker position. I'm not even the biggest fan of what we paid Terrel Bernard. But i'd rather have Bernard at half the price and be able to put money into more important positions than give that much to Warner.

Edmunds was a bit better of a fit defender than shooting his gaps to make plays (Like he's blocked, but he's not "moved" like bernard might be)

For such a physical speciman who wasn't "moved" he was on roller skates awfully frequenty in the run game (and fitting te wrong gap anyway)

I think it was 31 teams as the Rams were in efff them picks mode with the Goff trade up the year before.  It can get exhausting though but when you haven't drafted an elite, proven player besides Allen fans lose patience.  Benford and Groot could become elite soon and some would argue that Benford already is.

Bears kind of bet on traits too with that signing as him being only 24 who's only getting better was the pitch that Poles gave Bears fans.  It's not hindsight when pretty much everyone on here agreed it was a massive overpay even though many were worried that he couldn't effectively be replaced.  He definitely wasn't a whiff or a bust but if you trade up for a player in the first round that's not a primary position you expect him to be elite.  McBeane were hoping for their Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly in that round.  Luckily, the one they hit on (and then some) was the former or they might not have jobs right now.

I disagree with Bernard at his best isn't close to Wagner who has been the golden standard imo for ILB's with his play over the last five seasons.  I think both contracts were appropriate.

At his best Benard gets sacks and turnovers.  Not the down for down player as Warner but capable of making the impact plays.

He wasn't seen as a raw prospect though. Not at all. His skill set was supposed to translate pretty quickly to the NFL... It just hasn't been as advertised. His biggest strengths coming out were supposed to be natural movement skills, hands, and cerebral route spacing. Of those only the movement skills have translated.

TE has traditionally been a tough position to translate to the NFL because they have to learn pass blocking and pass catching. Not so with Kincaid. He has been treated more like a slot WR and those players either adapt to the pros early or they never do. See: Skyy Moore, Elijah Moore, Ladd McConkey. You figure out pretty early on if slot WRs have what it takes. Shakir didn't have it his first year but in year two he had obviously figured it out. Kincaid in year two went backwards... He has to take a HUGE step this year to be worth his draft pick.

Have you seen Kincaid's separation/win rate stats and his % of catchable ball rate stats?

They don't tell a story of him taking a step back, let alone a huge step back, and most certainly not a HUGE step back.
