I like seeing the WRs wear numbers in the 80s too, but if he makes the team, he'll ending up changing it to something goofy like 6 or 19.

The single digit numbers are popular now, so punters get what is left over.

You'll just have to get used to that. 80's for a WR is an antiquated practice. Nowadays, that's looked at as a Tight End number. League wide, almost everyone wears a number between 0 and 19. Looking at our presumed Top 5, they're all in the 0-18 range.

I mean, there have been 8 others to wear 40 since JD Hill, including Von Miller most recently. 32 is much more interesting, though. Only a couple of worn that since OJ (Senorise Perry and Nicholas Morrow). They only started giving out that number in recent years.

80s are way cooler.

 

I would feel much better about Keon Coleman's future if he was #83 rather than #0.

TE's seem to be more willing to do the right thing.

I do like the single digits on wr and secondary guys and I noticed that teams are starting to give kickers and punters terrible numbers. Bass's 2 would look much better on someone else. So would Shane Buechele's 6. 

 

I love LBs in the 50s and DL in the 90s

Seeing Strong with 43 reminded me Bernard switched to 8.  Too skinny a number for a skinny LB.  43 added at least 5 pds.  8 subtracts 10 pds maybe more.

As a fan of 70s culture...I give props to JD over Von for being the 40 king..he blocked well enough during the 2003 yard season of 73 that OJ gave him an engraved bracelet..

Sure, he was a much better player for the Bills. I just thought you were surprised they gave out those numbers, though. With 32, they weren't giving it out till recently. But 40 I don't think they ever stopped giving it out.
