Mister Defense Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I love Moore's ability to separate, his route running, and most of all the way he seems to so easily turn on the after burners once the ball is n his hands, no matter where he is on the field. Can turn that speed on in the blink of an eye. At 24, I am assuming that he still has the dynamic quality, hoping: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRr4yBqyFnI I don't think any other receiver currently on the Bills has this specific set of skills. Beane is providing excellent diversity in the wide receiver room. As this seems to be not just another player, another wideout, but another specific piece of the puzzle.. 1 Quote

Or, again, it was the Jets. absolutely valid - attitude adjustments can happen when that sunset on your football career starts before you planned on though. 1 Quote

Look at their pre-draft visits, private workouts, etc. They knew there was a need. He also named two times during the draft where a WR was in play but picked right before their pick (my guesses; Kyle Williams in the 3rd and Tory Horton in the 5th). But he's not going to commit the cardinal sin of reaching. That's what they did with Elam and it was a disaster. I wanted a WR in the first 3 picks also. But a.) I trust Beane more than myself AND b.) Our defense sucked last year while our offense was elite. I'm glad Kyle Williams went off the board because they probably would have picked him. But there's a reason the draft room was celebrating with Landon Jackson. I'm excited about that guy (and so are they). A poster on this thread actually stated "I don't care how many points they scored last year." REALLY??!! That's like going to a restaurant and saying the food is great but you don't like the the cooking methods in the kitchen. Great; sharp, clear, objective analysis of this. The kind of take those who believe your quote (now in bold above) will completely ignore, but may even bash, as they cannot compete with it, have zero of this clarity, insight, and most of all, objectivity. Needed, and really well said from beginning to end. But I just checked your activity--WTF!? You need to start posting MORE! The board can really use these kinds of takes right now, to counter the irrational, have no reason at all posters you so easily put in their place at the end. How can anything in your personal life possibly be more important than doing what's right by the Bils? So stop being so selfish and please get on board. Edited 9 hours ago by Mister Defense 2 1 Quote

Excited too and pretty sure this'll end up better than the Coleman signing. Like many others have said, I really liked Moore coming out of college. I'd wager a fair amount that (barring injury) Moore will be a significant contributor this year. Probably the purple stuff... Yes, Coleman underwent a genetic miniaturizing process with the objective of gaining speed. The procedure was successful. He's now only 6'0" but his 40 time is in the 4.4s. Umbrai? 1 Quote

I caught the very end of the interview when Jeremy said he wasn't going to be belittled and then rewinded to the very start. Then I heard Beane talk about the last 2-3 minutes and listened to him come off the way he did. Then I rewinded again and listened to the last 2-3 minutes he was on hold. Then I listened from 6am until the full interview happened. After doing that, I think everyone was in their right to say what they said. I wanted a WR. Didn't get it but I'm happy they addressed the defense. They wanted a WR earlier and didn't get it so they made it a point of contention about "why dont you value WR" for a year and a half now so why wouldn't he be tired of hearing about it. They have the right to criticize anything that he does that doesn't work out (and I know they praised him for addressing the needs on defense) but it really does get tiring after a while. Even as a regular listener and only hearing "well, we could have had that guy" or "I guess we didn't need to do this". It's the Simpsons "Old man yells at a cloud". Why should he care what anyone else thinks outside of the people he has around him in the office? You summed it up verry well here Wiz. I did the exact same thing.. We can agree on one thing though... This was not the best of looks for Beane or WGR. 1 Quote
transplantbillsfan Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I mean... for reference from the 2021 draft: 26th player for Daniel Jeremiah: Junior Moore is an undersized wideout with outstanding versatility, quickness and toughness. He has experience lining up outside, in the slot and in the backfield. He has excellent quickness in his release and is clean/crisp at the top of routes. He gets a lot of quick hitters, and he's very elusive after the catch. He also makes some huge plays over the top, tracking the ball naturally and showing reliable hands. He is effective when used as a runner out of the backfield, too. He hits the hole full-go and can make defenders miss. Overall, Moore lacks size, but he'll be a stud in the slot and can also help in the return game. 35th player for Dane Brugler: STRENGTHS: Balanced athlete with the ability to gear up/down and accelerate out of his cuts…runs routes with tempo and controlled urgency…quick-thinking, decisive ball carrier to set up moves and force missed tackles…able to win vertically with sluggos or double-moves…quick to reach his route depth, calm his feet and give his quarterback a clean target…strong hands with excellent focus at the catch point (credited with only one drop on 101 targets in 2020)…looks comfortable going across the middle of the field…short, but not small with firm muscle definition…not shy lowering his pads to barrel through tackle attempts…emerged as the featured playmaker in the Ole Miss offense, breaking AJ Brown’s school record for receptions in a season (86). WEAKNESSES: Lacks ideal height/length for the position…a few branches missing from his route tree, primarily in the intermediate part of the field…production was inflated by scheme, which created open opportunities for him…unproven as an outside receiver and didn’t face much press in the slot, allowing him to free release…few examples on tape of him winning contested windows downfield…inexperienced and inconsistent blocker, missing landmarks and struggling to sustain…earned an immature label after his urinating dog touchdown celebration (November 2019) in the final moments of the Egg Bowl led to Ole Miss falling to Mississippi State. [44] SUMMARY: A three-year starter at Ole Miss, Moore was a high-volume slot/backfield target in head coach Lane Kiffin’s up-tempo spread scheme. He thrived with quick, underneath throws (jet sweeps, screens, slants, etc.) and took advantage of being force-fed the football, leading the SEC in catches (10.8) and receiving yards (149.1) per game in 2020. Moore plays fast, decisive and dependable and can be used as a matchup receiver in space, tracking the ball and making defenders miss. He was more of a specialty receiver in college and has plenty to prove as a downfield target. Overall, Moore doesn’t have the tape of a well-rounded receiver, but he is an athletic and controlled route runner with strong hands. He projects as a flexible chess piece who can be as productive as his volume. GRADE: 2nd Round (No. 35 overall) 2 Quote

Kirby Jackson Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I like the signing and wanted him in that draft. Moore and Palmer are guys that get open with their route running. That’s something that the Bills missed last year. They had to run so many plays around the LOS because of the lack of separation. They were at their best when they could just get the ball in someone’s hands. These 2 will add a dimension that’s been missing. I haven’t followed him closely as a pro. When he was coming out there was a belief that he could get down the field. He did a lot of that at Ole Miss with double moves. I saw last year he averaged like 8 yards a catch so I’m assuming that there wasn’t much of that. Maybe it was QB or scheme. Maybe he just hasn’t been able to do it like the scouting reports thought he could. It’s probably a little of all of that. Despite his size the Bills should try to use him to get down the field. Overall, it’s a nice addition and makes that room better. 11 Quote

They think they have a bully pulpit and nobody will ever call them on it. Beane has never said he didn’t want a speed WR; he just has to build an entire football team and has done a damn good job of it. How many entire rosters in this league do you want to trade the Bills’ for? It’s exhausting. Some people want to continue to talk about the “WR room” and compare it to the rest of the league. Well, what about every other position group on offense? QB — top 1-2 OL — top 5 RB — top 10 (maybe higher) TE — top half That’s a lot of really good stuff, and YOU CAN’T HAVE EVERYTHING in the salary cap era. This team scored nearly 30 points per game and put up 29 in the playoffs against the Chiefs. Don’t tell me “the offense had the ball and didn’t get it done” because while technically true, that’s not why Buffalo lost that game (or the game the year before). Beane was right to tell them to “quit your b-i-t-c-h-i-n-g” given these facts, and the signing of Elijah Moore isn’t an “admission” of anything by Beane. 3 3 2 1 5 Quote

That’s a bit of a disconnect and that’s a bit tricky.) Not a disconnect. Beane alluded to wanting to be able to protect Josh with a OL, he has built one including paying two OTs. Josh never said he was taking less than he could demand so that the Bills would go trade for an elite #1 (they already did that once). If you asked Josh what he would rather have - an elite defense and OL or a clear WR 1, especially in this offense, what do you think he would choose. Edited 5 hours ago by YoloinOhio 1 Quote
