That's exactly right. Fans overrate how much extra production WRs get from elite QBs. Chase and Higgins were still elite when Jake Browning was their QB. The example I always use is Tyreek Hill got more production when he went from Mahomes to Tua. WR production is about a whole lot more than their QB, and most of it rests on the WR themselves.

I'm struggling to think of a recent example of a WR where the light suddenly clicked on after getting a better QB? It didn't happen with Kadarius Toney or Chase Claypool or Nelson Agholor, etc.

Diggs improved quite a lot in production when he came to Buffalo. Amari Cooper produced significantly better with Dak than he did in Oakland. Randy Moss was a ton better in NE than with the Raiders, though it did look to me like he was dogging it after a while in the Silver and Black. Welker was massively better when he got with Brady.

It happens.

But yeah, you're right that you can't assume it will. Sometimes it happens and plenty of other times it doesn't.

Don't forget the super bowl champion Eagles and their two elite wide receivers... Oh wait, doesn't fit the narrative. Another popular one I hear these days is the Chiefs don't have elite receivers. Well, it isn't for lack of trying. They've got two first round and two second round receivers and a hall of fame TE on the roster. They also rolled the dice on a first round head case in Toney.  And those Pats teams you referenced always had an elite slot and hall of fame TE. Your point isn't wrong so much as it is slightly short sighted; as is Beane's. We can win a lot of games and score a lot of points with everybody eats. BUT without elite talent you're at a situational disadvantage in big moments. Evidenced by every freaking fourth quarter playoff drive when all we need is one freaking play. Plays the Justin Jeffersons of the world make and the Mack Hollins do not.

Yes, the Eagles were the exception as they built a unique team...that is now partially dismantled in free agency. Beane stated correctly when he said that by paying Josh Allen, it compromises the team in spending on those big-name, elite FA WRs. BTW, which elite WRs did you want the Bills to draft after drafting the much-needed players on defense?

The Bills might already have some elite receiver players in the form of their star TEs and new WRs. In the case of Dalton Kincade, who was mis-targeted by around 37% on passing plays over 12 yards. Kincade and Allen just weren't on the same page last year for some reason. Curtis Samuel was injured last season with a turf toe, which can linger on and on if not given proper rest.  Samuel, who has run a 4.31 40 time and has had some 60 catch seasons.

So many Bills fans blame Kincade for the dropped pass last season and Bass for the missed field goal in the previous season. Yet, it has been the defense that has let this franchise down the last few years due to injuries and a lack of depth. Both Beane and McD saw the flaws in the team and attempted to fix them in the draft. This draft was weak in elite WRs while loaded with top defensive players, and Buffalo added some.

Despite not having elite WRs on the team last season, the Buffalo Bills were 2nd in the NFL in scoring and the #1 scoring team, including the playoffs. The Bills are returning with most of their offense intact and lost their 4th & 5th WRs and have already replaced them with better players.

Buffalo had Stephon Diggs, who was their elite wide receiver and led the entire NFL in one season...did they get to the SB with him?

I'm pretty sure his separation numbers were top-5 in the league. If you're gonna reference stats that's a good one to point out.

So good that he managed 500 yards, one TD, and was relegated to a non starter

Funny, but didn’t Moore visit before Beane went on White’s show?

It was announced he was visiting like 20 minutes after the interview, so it was likely already going on when that all went down.

Visits don’t just get set up last second. Flights have to be booked unless the Pegula jet got him.  I’m sure after the draft, Beane called to set up the visit on Saturday but he’s not going to let the cat out of the bag in a 8:30 radio segment on who’s visiting especially to two guys who took him to task

If I am understanding correctly, it would count toward the comp pick formula for the Browns if he signs before June 21 but not against the Bills if he signs here after May 1st ?

Tremaine Edmunds' birthday is May 2nd!

Psssh. Who died and named YOU the arbiter of umbrage?

I think at least a modicum of umbrage is due. It feels like you're leaving a little bit of umbrage on the table on this one.

In fact, I'd go as far as to say I take umbrage with your lack of umbrage.

Is there a plural of umbrage?

Im always for taking swings at young, former high draft picks. I was a big fan of us acquiring Corey Coleman a few years ago, even though that didn’t work, and I’m a big fan of this.

Excited too and pretty sure this'll end up better than the Coleman signing. Like many others have said, I really liked Moore coming out of college.

I wonder if this guy can make the roster? Would we keep 4 WR's and only 5 WR?

Locks:

Coleman

Samuel

Shakir

Palmer

Likely:

Shenault (can return)

Possibly:

Moore

Virgil

Bubble:

The rest.

I'd wager a fair amount that (barring injury) Moore will be a significant contributor this year.

So we have 6 receivers on the roster all 6’ 1” or under.  In fact we only have two receivers over 6’ 1” and that Shavers and the 7th round rookie.  This is going to be fun to watch…aim small miss small Josh.

Keon Coleman shrunk?

Yes, Coleman underwent a genetic miniaturizing process with the objective of gaining speed. The procedure was successful.

He's now only 6'0" but his 40 time is in the 4.4s.

I wanted the Bills to draft Eli Moore 4 years ago. Im okay with this.

I hope this guy ends up being Jerry Rice but knowing what I know about those team, I’ll be stunned if he even plays. If he has 25 catches I’ll be amazed. I expect it more likely he’s cut than matter

lol the stupid has ramped up around here i guess. Moore is instantly the 2nd best receiver on the team behind Shakir. Yes, better than Palmer and yes, Moore can play on the outside.

There is not a zero chance of Shenault making this roster but it is close to zero.

I don't really know what to make of this because it's the Jets but I'm not sure he's going to be happy as a WR4 or WR5.  Again, it's the Jets.

https://sports.yahoo.com/jets-wr-elijah-moore-breaks-202500715.html

The second-year pro out of Ole Miss remains on the team despite having been frustrated enough with his reduced role in the offense to ask for a trade. The Jets declined his request and now that the trade deadline has come and gone, the two sides need to figure out how to work together.

Hours after the Jets’ 27-10 victory against the Packers on Oct. 16, Moore quoted a tweet saying he was targetted zero times.

“If I say what I really wanna say… I’ll be the selfish guy…we winning,” Moore said in the tweet. “Grateful! Huge blessing! All I ever wanted. Bittersweet for me, but I’ll be solid. So I’ll just stay quiet. Just know I don’t understand either.”

While he practiced on Wednesday of the following week, the 2021 second-round pick was sent home the next day following a reported disagreement with Jets offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur. Then Jets coach Robert Saleh announced before the game against the Broncos on Oct. 23 that Moore would not travel with the rest of the team following his trade request.

Moore returned to the team following the win against the Broncos but played only 10 snaps in the 22-17 loss against the Patriots. Although he was not traded, Moore said it wasn’t easy to turn the page and start over fresh with the Jets organization.

“I’m a human, so it takes time,” Moore said. “Being the man that I am, I always try to reset my mind every time I go home. I go to the things that I believe in and that’s God.

Again, please keep in mind he was on the Jets.

Yea as Gonzo said a page or so back the guy this hurts is Shavers. He was the clubhouse leader for WR5 before this signing.

All that is valid Doc, but recency bias aside, he didn’t necessarily go to a good situation with the Browns either. And he still caught 61 balls. Playing on both the slot and the outside. Idk I’ve always liked him and yes F the Jets.

I believe they told him that they want him to become the best version of himself... also to trust the process...

highly doubt Moore was a guy that had like only one or two options. Also I highly doubt in the staying power and overall talent of Keon Coleman. So yeah by game 3 or 4 i would bet the top 3 WR on the team are Palmer - Moore - Shakir In the slot.
