I asked earlier in the WR thread and earlier in this thread, how would the Beane critics feel if Coleman, Kincaid, Palmer and Shakir all had 800 yards next season.  Would that still be the worst WR group in the NFL?

Absolutely not, I can guarantee that.  You are waaaaayyy off...

It would be one of the worst groups of wide receivers to ever play in the NFL, historically awful, pathetic, dismal, and they would despise Beane even more. (Yes, that is possible somehow.)

And this despite the Bills' offense again being one of the best offenses in the NFL, maybe the best again, even if they break all the Bills' and NFL records they broke last year, and even if Josh wins the NFL MVP again. They will still be outraged, furious.

And calling for Beane's head, of course.

(And a significant part of their reaction, as predicted above, is sadly not even exaggeration.)

Locks:

Coleman

Samuel

Shakir

Palmer

Likely:

Shenault (can return)

Possibly:

Moore

Virgil

Bubble:

The rest.

Moore is a lock.

As for Shenault, I looked it up and Codrington played just 69 snaps on defense last year, only in the regular season, mostly in the final 2 games (and in the 2nd half of both, when the game was out of reach against the Jets and they didn't care against the Patriots).  I'd say Shenault offers more at WR and returner than Codrington offers at CB and returner.  The only thing is Shenault hasn't returned punts in his career and may have to prove he can also do it.

To some yes.  They are too into fantasy football.  What if all 5 (inc Moore) had those stats?  Then add in what RB's, Knox etal also do.

Bills WR's/TE's in fantasy is what Patriot RB's used to be.  Put up good numbers as a group but you can't start one of them unless you're desperate.

yea not concerned about the comp picks anyway. Sign him please

There would be no comp picks coming our way next year even if we hadn't signed Moore.

The only player we lost that could be compensated was Mack Hollins. That was cancelled out five times over by any one of Bosa, Palmer, Hoecht, Ogunjobi, or White. Teams could sign Amari Cooper, Von Miller, and Rasul Douglas between now and the time the Comp clock is up. We still wouldn't get anything.

and we Drated one and signed2 UDFA’s. Did you want is to use our 1st pick?😳

I think it was a really good draft.  I would have liked them to draft a WR in the 4th.  But I get the decision and I’m ok with the WR group we have. I think it’s a definite improvement over last years group which still produced at an elite level.

Shenault is an interesting pickup. I think he has great talent

Word is that coleman has added muscle this yr. Maybe he can be stronger on contested balls

Okay, that's all fine and well, but did he strengthen his wrists, to avoid injury?

I want to see Coleman rolling up to camp looking like this:

I think his talent was greatest in college.  In the pros he's more of a Mack Hollins type who can return kicks and can hopefully return punts (or someone else with value at another position can do it).

Or terrible QB’ng?

True.  He doesn't have the largest catch radius and that's a huge problem for a QB like Winston or DTR who couldn't hit water if they fell off a boat.

Not sure many players' wrists are surviving direct helmet shot like Poyer laid on Coleman.

Could the Bills have 5 pass catchers with 50+ receptions next year???

Coleman, Shakir, Palmer, Moore, Kincaid

Thing is…. I think it’s possible but don’t know if any will have over 75.

50 is a bit much.

They could all hit 35-40 each though I’d say

depends what happens over the summer.

a few may separate themselves as earning much higher snap %

All this talk about what happened with WGR and Beane.  I have made my comments on this in the main thread, but based off of everything that happened since that aired, it makes me wonder if the whole thing would have never happened if we knew that Moore was coming in for a visit BEFORE the interview instead of 20 seconds after it aired.

I mean, I think all the WGR guys were saying is that we probably could have used at least 1 more guy in the WR room to try and make life easier for Allen.  I think the signing of Moore is kind of a perfect fit for what the Bills want to do on offense......positionless WRs that play in different packages depending on the game script.  Hollins played like 60% of the snaps last year and I think all of us would say he probably was the 4th or 5th WR at best on the roster in terms of labels.  So, with Moore coming in, I could absolutely see him slotting into the Hollins role.  I think we can also all agree that Moore is more talented than Hollins overall.  So, if the WGR guys would have known that the visit was happening and the signing was a possibility, I don't think the conversation on Monday every happens.

Anyway, I like this signing a lot.  It's one of this low to no risk, high reward types of signings.  I think the dude has talent and we haven't seen his best because of the teams and QBs he has played with.  I think he can get some separation and he likes to live in the intermediate areas that Allen likes to target.  I wouldn't be surprised at all if he plays a more important role in this offense than many are expecting.  Palmer is new to the the team and, while I like that signing too, we don't know what that is going to look like yet.  The jury is still way out on Coleman.  I have no reason to believe expectations should be real high with him.  I wasn't big on him in the draft and until he proves differently, I think a middle of the road WR is distinct possibility for him.  And Samuel has never been able to stay healthy for an entire season.  So, with Shakir being the only reliable guy in the room, I could absolutely seeing Moore emerge as a guy to get a good amount of snaps this year.  Regardless, I like the signing.  We needed another guy in the room and he can run.  So we'll see what happens.
