Belicheck has been terrible since. I agree, but in fairness he was a great DC with the Giants before being Pats coach. He was a great coach, even if Brady was the most important piece of the puzzle. I think the game has passed him by, and the luck part of his success has run out. You need a good roster to be a winning coach. The Pats no longer had one, and UNC has subpar talent. Belichick’s biggest blunder was his ego allowing him to think UNC was a winning situation. He’s become a poor decision maker late in his career, and that’s the biggest reason for the decline. I believe his success in the NFL was due more to other "factors" than just 'genius'. I saw it as nothing more than a money grab and a way for him to reinflate his ego and try to stay relevant after the NFL closed its doors to him. He doesn't give a sh!t about the school, and I fully expect him to bolt sooner than later if/when things continue to go bad - taking his bag and leaving UNC holding the bag - (or D-bag, if Steve Belichick becomes coach 🤮) Edited September 2 by stevewin 1 Quote

Just like Deion is showing in Colorado, "star" coaching talent doesn't equal busloads of 5-star recruits. I think Belichick's motivation for doing this is all wrong (to prove he's still great after being rejected by NFL front offices), and he's made the mistake of filling out his coaching staff with his kids, Mike Lombardi's kid, and two ex-Browns assistants, one of whom hasn't worked in football for three years (Priefer) and one who's terrible at his job (OC Kitchens). Belichick seems to have become the opposite of what he claims, very attention seeking. I’d be good with that team losing every week, but I feel bad for the players themselves. eball Posted September 2 Author Posted September 2 There's quite a bit of overreaction to last night's debacle, which is human nature, but I think a more balanced view is simply that we saw how difficult it is to have a turnover of 70 -- SEVENTY -- players in one offseason and have a team that is cohesive and ready to perform right out of the gate. I think we'll have a much better idea of what's going on after a few more games. Quote

Belicheck has a great track record with Brady. It's not that he's losing, he's getting embarrassed. One of the best defensive coordinators in NFL history no doubt. Bill had one really bad last year in New England 10-7 8-9 with two not great rosters and his bad year... 7-10, 9-8-9-8 for Carrol with a better roster I think it's more who they were dealing with then straight up there coaching prowess Now I didn't think North Carolina was going to get blown out yesterday but I also don't think that's indicative on Bill belichick's 40 plus year career.. He's a high energy guy even at his age He's strategically sound but I don't think anybody would ever call him an X's and O's guru he is a masterclass motivator, even world class .. and a great developer of talent Caroll is also one of the best football coaches of the last 40 years whether you're talking any level too he is greatness Edited September 2 by Buffalo716 Quote
