PFF only credits him with 14 pass block snaps in 2024. On which he gave up two pressures. One against Jacksonville and one in the AFCCG. He only got one below average pass block grading for the year which was the Championship game. And that has kinda been my point about. Bis whiff in that game is influencing perceptions. His pass blocking overall has not been the disaster some make out. It isn't a strength, don't get me wrong, but he is not a total liability.

I agree and Lets face it... if we are basing our decision on his pass protection then yeah cut him LOL...  in the end he is not ever going to be the 2nd coming of Jamie Mueller... but improving his pass blocking to say average... opens up things for him because pretty much when he is out there in passing situations the D knows he is going into a pattern... but again, bottom line is, I don't want JC blocking in the backfield as a significant portion of our game plan... he is more dangerous as a threat to get the ball... Greg Tompsett floated Cook, Epenesa, 2026 1st and 3rd, 2027 1st for Parsons.

100% yes.  No questions asked.  Especially if we have to deal with this now.  (I would’ve done it anyway).

Cook going back to Dallas might help Jerry save face by getting a star player in return plus picks.

Hmm not good:

Oh well as long as it doesn't linger into the season I don't really care.

If Beane sees Cook as the ideal fit for the Bills, then extend him. Otherwise, trade him already. This is so annoying! I personally never saw him as the perfect RB with an arsenal of tools (blocking, pushing piles, hitting defenders hard, pass catching). He is limited.

In the end, this is all Beanes fault for not grabbing CMC, Saquan, or maybe even Baltimores RB. (Name escapes me). Dare I say, drafting a replacement would have been ideal. And no, Davis is not the solution. He is nifty but not speedy.

Cook sees the injury bug hitting and I dont blame him.

Cooks demands are not 100% known, contrary to what some think with his prior social media posts.  He is a super competitor, id be genuinely shocked if this drags into regular season.

He's beyond deserving of a "fair" extension, holding out hope Beane can find a way to make that happen before season.

Hes not asking for a fair extension though.  It’s been leaked, somewhat consistently, that he wants a Saquon type deal.

Beane likely isn’t anywhere close to that.

Nothing indicates the two sides are, at all, close to a deal.

So what caused the abrupt shift in posturing to go from practicing as normal and being friendly at practice to holding in and repeating a one-word answer?

If I’m Beane, I’m on the phone right now with Dallas to gauge their interest in Cook if Parson is remotely available.

Read my response in other thread.

Its a sudden change with preseason ready to start, no reason for Cook to play a snap right now.  And its 100% his agents way of pushing Beane back to the negotiation table--- I see this as communication slowed and his agent isnt happy with Beanes stalling.

Cook will be on the field Week 1, when it matters.

At least he isn't injured.  The agent advising him is kind of comical at this point.

With all these injuries I'd have a talk with coach about being there but not touching the field til week 1 either at this point

James Cook:  "I don't want to be a distraction"

Also James Cook: I'll just repeat "business" to all questions asked

Learn how to block James, then you would get paid what you think you are worth

Wait until he demands a trade.  That's the logical next step.

Yea I think this is it. Whether he is seeing his teammates get injured or he stubbed his toe, he does not want to get injured during practice.

I do expect he is going to try his best and produce well during the season to justify his next contract. If I was Beane I would figure a way to pay him and put this behind us. Especially with how well he played all playoffs and the lack of other proven weapons on the roster.

That's too rich for my blood. As good as Parsons is, he can go stretches where he disappears and gets handled by guys he should dominate. The Bills would have a large chunk of money tied up in one position and compromised draft capital at a time when they're already paying the franchise QB a large sum of money. Not a good recipe imo

I have to disagree.

Parsons on a DL with Ed Oliver and Greg Rousseau (if he didn’t go in a trade) plus the sky high potential of TJ Sanders…

Disgusting.  Best DL in the NFL level disgusting.

We’ve only seen Rousseau and Oliver out there with an elite talent for like 6 games before Von got hurt.   Parsons not only is elite himself, picture Oliver and Rousseau with 1 on 1’s all game, and heaven help teams if Sanders reaches his potential.

When cook says business it could mean a few things in my opinion

Contract negotiations aren't progressing or are non existent

They are actually very close but haven't signed anything yet but will with in a day

Trade talks picked up
