PromoTheRobot Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Decided to go see Barenaked Ladies/Sugar Ray tonight last minute. They are coming to Buffalo Outer Harbor next week Quote
T&C Posted July 17 Author Posted July 17 There has to be another reason... this makes no sense. Entire fair lineup is in the article. https://www.syracuse.com/statefair/2025/07/classic-rock-band-set-to-play-nys-fair-cancels-entire-tour-blames-the-weather.html The Steve Miller Band, scheduled to play the New York State Fair and two other Upstate New York concerts next month, announced the cancellation of their entire 2025 tour on Wednesday night and blamed … the weather. The band made the announcement on social media Wednesday night. The band had 31 dates scheduled this year, starting with an Aug. 15 show in Bethel Woods, N.Y., and ending with a show in Anaheim, Calif., on Nov. 8, according to Pollstar. The band was scheduled to perform in Syracuse at the State Fair’s Suburban Park stage on Aug. 21, and the Seneca Allegany Resort & Casinos in Salamanca on Aug. 30. The band’s website now lists no tour dates. Instead, it has this note: “Dear Steve Miller Band fans, You make music with your instincts You live your life by your instincts Always trust your instincts … The Steve Miller Band has cancelled all of our upcoming tour dates. The combination of extreme heat, unpredictable flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes and massive forest fires make these risks for you our audience, the band and the crew unacceptable. So … You can blame it on the weather ... The tour is cancelled. Don’t know where, don’t know when … We hope to see you all again. Wishing you all Peace, Love and Happiness, Please take care of each other. Steve, The Band and the Crew” Quote
The Poojer Posted July 18 Posted July 18 weird al tomorrow night at the Mann in Philly, cannot wait, he's amazing live, i will make sure to arrive late to avoid Puddles the clown opening.....can't stand that ish 1 Quote
f0neguy Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Saw Weird Al at SPAC Thursday night, the show was great! Two straight hours of entertainment. While the costume changes were happening (quickly!) the videos were funny. Wish I had missed Puddles though. Folks around us liked him, I just don’t see anything funny with that guy 👎🏼 1 Quote
SinceThe70s Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Definitely headed back in time this year with Michael Schenker (70's/80's) in September and then Queensryche/Accept (80's) in November. The show I really want to see is King Buffalo/All Them Witches (current bands!) in December - but the venue is hard to get to. On a much lesser scale (I think it's free) I hope to see The Scofflaws at a town park on Saturday. Great local ska band from the 90's that didn't get much national exposure. 2 Quote

But for an amphitheater that holds about 17,500, they only sold about 3,000 tickets. Staff was letting anyone that wanted to, could sit under the pavilion. It was weird, with the smaller crowd, it felt more like a small venue, and not a large amphitheater. And the New York State Fair concerts are finalized, click on the pic below for easier reading... AlCowlingsTaxiService Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Just saw Men At Work, Christopher Cross and Toto and Seneca Niagara … overall excellent show, didn’t feel like just an oldies “yacht rock” act Quote
Just Jack Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Taylor Dayne and Cheap Trick at the New York State Fair today. Taylor Dayne can still sing and fit into outfits that most 63-year-olds would not wear. Did about 10 songs and seems to stick with the setlist found online. But interesting was that several times she would leave the stage for a good 3-4 minutes, then come back on, not for any wardrobe changes. And even the last song, she left before it was over, letting her band finish. Not sure if it's something health related, or her normal routine. Cheap Trick went with their not so well-known stuff unless you're a big fan for the first half of their set. Which prompted the three guys by me to keep making comments like "oh, here's another one no one knows." Then why are you guys here watching, because you weren't listening with all the rude comments you're making, plus, from the looks of you, you're just as old as the band themselves. They did get to their popular stuff towards the end. Large crowd, I would not be surprised if it is announced at 15,000 or more. 1 Quote

Cheap Trick seems like the type of band that only real fans would know most songs to begin with. Sure, they have a few well known hits, but aren’t a band who can play an hour and a half of songs everyone knows. Great band, but more a critical darling and icon to rock fans who dig a little deeper. 1 Quote
Augie Posted August 22 Posted August 22 It turns out Teddy Swims is much better in studio than on stage. Live and learn, still a nice night out. Quote
Just Jack Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Neon Trees and a Lady Gaga Tribute today at the NY State Fair. Neon Trees, I only knew two of their songs going in, but it was a great show, I may buy some of their albums. You could tell the lead singer was not happy with the crowd reaction, very subdued, but I know a lot of people did not know who they are. He was even commenting on it. But they still did their full set, and left immediately after. The Lady Gaga Tribute, nothing exciting about that unless you're a die-hard LG fan. We did not stay for the full set, since she did not start until after 9pm. I only knew one of the 4-5 songs we did stay for. But it was free. And I forgot this, earlier this week saw Eddie 9V at Funk 'N Waffles in Syracuse. Small bar/venue, best guess, less than 100 people were there, but he still gave it his all. I would definitely recommend seeing him if you have a chance. They had a local Syracuse band as the opening act, can't even tell you what their name was, but it was a jam band. Played for an hour, and it was not good. To the point I was almost ready to leave and come back in when Eddie came on. But I had a good spot at the bar with a view of the stage and did not want to give it up. Quote

Gonna see Fu Manchu in Boston in two weeks. Then Stereolab in Buffalo in October at Babeville. 1 Quote
dhg Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Saw a Who tribute band at Riviera Theater tonight, Who Are You. They were really good. Singer was from Coney Hatch. Drummer was Mark Santers. Quote
Draconator Posted August 30 Posted August 30 (edited) My daughter talked my wife and I to see Blink 182 and Alkaline Trio at Darien Lake on September 11th. She is literally flying into Buffalo from California Wednesday evening, show Thursday night, leaving Friday afternoon. Edited August 30 by Draconator Quote

PromoTheRobot Posted September 14 Posted September 14 I'm going to see Fu Manchu tonight at the Sinclair in Cambridge MA, near Harvard. Then I'm in Buffalo Oct. 7 to see Stereolab at Babeville. I also found out AFI and TR/ST are playing Buffalo Riverworks on Oct. 6. 🤔 Quote
SinceThe70s Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Michael Schenker "My Years With UFO" tonight. As a huge fan of UFO's Strangers in the Night live album the show was solid. A deeper cut I hadn't heard that they played heavier than the orig: 1 Quote
Jauronimo Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Saw Oasis two weeks ago, Nelly with Ja Rule a week ago (not my choice), and Nine Inch Nails on Friday which was amazing and the best of the three shows by a mile. Last up on the docket is Viagra Boys October 30th. Quote
