The 1980s.  The decade had movies that defined whole new genres and created many successful actors.

Examples:

The "war" movie:  Full Metal Jacket, Platoon

The regular guy as action hero:  Die Hard

The buddy cop film:  Lethal Weapon

Woman as an action heroine:  Aliens

The sports film:  The Natural, Major League, Hoosiers

Action Comedy:  True Lies, Last Action Hero, and I personally find Stallone's Cobra one of the most hilarious action films of the decade.

New lines of comedy movies:  Space Balls, Naked Gun, Spies Like Us, Uncle Buck, Home Alone

Die Hard was the Prequel to Tombstone if I remember correctly?

Road House sounds like an 80's porn.  Who was in that movie?

Kelly Lynch and Bill Murray never made the director forget it lol

Adam Sandler. More 80's movies that I forgot to mention Die Hard and Road House.

OMG, yes, I forgot Die Hard on my list.  Honestly, the 80s is my favorite decade for pop culture (born in '79)...the toys, the movies, the cartoons, TV shows, etc.  I loved those days.

80’s for sure.  Adding:

War Games

Goonies

Gremlins

ET

Star Wars

Back to the Future

Raiders of the Lost Ark

Sixteen Candles

Breakfast Club

(basically all the John Hughes movies)

True Lies and Last Action Hero are 90s.  Home Alone is 1990, and Uncle Buck is 1989.  All but 2 of the Lethal Weapon movies are 90s but the first is by far the best of the series.
