Though I caught a photo of Josh doing the press conference post Bears and thought he was looking leaner than before. Might just be me.

(Before anyone says it, yes I am comparing out-of-uniform to out-of-uniform!)

The crazy thing is, say what you will about Tom Brady as I know a lot of people on the forum don't like him, but he's the best to ever do it and he's still doing it 20+ years later at a super high level and he wrote a book on exactly what he does to stay healthy and in great shape even in his mid 40's. If I was say a young guy in my mid 20's with aspirations of achieving that level of success I would probably buy that book and do exactly what he did.

I had heard somewhere that Josh takes a little ribbing from teammates regarding his physique. I don't recall ever seeing him shirtless but my guess is that he isn't built like the other "skill" players on the team and doesn't want to be. To be a smooth passer he doesn't need or want to be musclebound. He obviously needs strong hands and legs with the legs important for his rocket throws and running. At this point in time I don't think Josh is imagining a career as a QB until he reaches 45 like Marcia. He's probably happy with his body and his physical performance on the field. I'm thinking that he probably eats healthy in a general way but doesn't shy away from wings or prime rib when he feels like it. Some people are just talented enough that a dad body doesn't hold them back. Think John Daly, Bartolo Colon and Babe Ruth.

And Bills players have to brush off their own vehicles when they get back into town after a flight... I bet Russell Wilson gets his vehicle cleared of snow.

Anyway... DIYing it with others builds comradery... Glad the Bills have it:

I get your point, but I'm not sure Josh wants to be in that company. Maybe we could go Phil Mickelson, Larry Walker, David Ortiz?

Hey, don't criticize my hyperbole! I spent a lot of years pitching baseball and fastpitch softball and refused to workout to the point of not having a fluid delivery. Best damn excuse I ever had.

Lol,   I certainly hope that this was just someone's creative photos hopped commentary on Russell Wilson.

However, with some of the other really cringe Russell media clips that his team has put out makes it so believable that this was put out by Russell Wilson's media team.  I cannot fathom how they could think this was a good look so I truly hope it is a third party photoshopped picture.

If you can’t see that is photoshopped get glasses.

You named a golfer(not a sport) and 2 baseball players.

It’s sad really. I remember watching the senior bowl practices and being so impressed by how humble Wilson was. He was out to prove himself, taking extra reps and mimicking plays when the other QBs were in. I didn't want to draft him, because he was small, but I was clearly wrong about that aspect of his game. How do you go from this humble hard working dude with the ugly girlfriend at the draft to whatever he has turned out to be? It’s sad.

I'm pretty sure that it was his first wife when he got drafted.

Yeah, but I googled her too, and I just gotta say: "some people have ridiculously high standards." Either that or they don't have a girlfriend ...

Meem.webp

The image when they captured the news he was drafted just caught her in an awkward unflattering expression.  Otherwise she wasn't that unattractive.  Anyone that's ever gotten a driver license photo knows it's easy to get a bad picture when they catch a bad expression on a person's face.   I truly believe they train the dmv picture takers to wait for a bad look on people before they snap even trying to get you to answer a question to try for that bad look.

Obviously the point went right over your head. I don't intend to argue with you but golf is certainly a sport and I'm aware that the two others I named were baseball players. I suggest that in the future if you want to have a discussion regarding someone's post that you avoid drive-by posting.

I also have seen alot of cringe worthy behind the scenes footage put out be his or the Broncos media team.  Not certain which but am certain I'd never hire that media team if ever I were in need of positive pr.  Of course normal people don't generally need pr people to fix their images as it's perfectly fine to be normal.

Perhaps I could’ve added some insight. Apologies didn’t mean to insult you. To me Golf is a pastime not requiring athletic ability. And baseball always had chunky players. Football though you would think the skill guys have well sculpted muscles to assist with running, jumping, pushing off, throwing running, etc. I love golf and do play myself but let’s be honest, it doesn’t require nutrition, speed, strength only focus and precision. Big difference.

Wouldn’t it be crazy if it wasn’t though? I’m not nor have I ever been a fan of Wilson but his Mr Unlimited really made me dislike him even more.

“Nutrition is at least half of player performance”

I’m curious if there is any data to support this quote, or whether it’s made up out of thin air.

I went to Chefs when I was in Buffalo a couple months back. Waiter told me that Bruce Smith used to come in every Friday for a 3 pound plate of spaghetti “parmed”.

These guys are incredible athletes with monster caloric demands. I’m thinking that the most important thing is to get sufficient protein and calories. Don’t really need a personal chef for that; it’s a luxury, but not necessary. Weight, speed, and endurance training are necessary.

Body composition is a result of what players eat. If youre a lineman, to an extent, sure eat like a slob. Everyone else needs to mind their weight, whether that means maintaining, losing, or gaining.

Also, most players will grind their ass off to gain a lb or two of muscle... theres no beginner gains, theyre at the edge of physiology. Without adding hormones it takes a perfectly balanced/custom diet plans.

This isnt a "rice, beef/chicken" diet. Its rotating foods to optimize vitamins, on top of macros. Body needs to be on point, but also need energy levels at peak, recovery, and mental sharpness.

Im sure in 1990 Bruce picked a few staples and ate like a horse. Its insane to think thats going on in 2020's. Sports science/nutrition makes that 1-2% performance difference between all-pro/pro bowl players. Its something any smart player isnt ignoring, and id imagine teams push it HAAAAARD

That is what is so crazy.   Yes it was a photoshopped picture but the pic of him in a riding posture came from somewhere.  Likely the behind scenes video that was full of cringe moments and yet the media team that allowed it and I suppose scripted it really truly makes the photoshop something they would have put out.

I expect his let's ride video snippets to be used in a future warning video about the damages from concussions.  Just like the old frying an egg on a skillet was used to depict your brain on drugs.

Josh has absolutely no diet or meal plan. He says he eats whatever he wants including drinking beer. Sounds like fun if you are the typical 40 something overweight poster on TBD but not for an elite athlete

Couple things.

1. Josh does have a diet in season. With a dietician, and a target weight. He’s mentioned it himself. He has also said he doesn’t follow them strictly and is heavier than they ask him to be. He doesn’t have one in the off-season  and eats what he wants.

2. This last offseason he said he didn’t do much of anything but rest his body saying it felt good to rest and feel fresh for camp. Some posters have noted that his footwork and mechanics have gotten sloppier through out the year. Do with that what you will.

3. If he wants to keep playing for a long time, he’ll have to stop doing 1 and 2.
