And yet, there are a decent amount of people on here that are saying "No way".

For me, I'd love to see them throw in Edmunds on a deal like this.  I think this would be a great way to move on from that looming decision.

Well that's an interesting proposal.  Possibly a little more feasible.  But I don't think McBeane will trade Edmunds.  They really like him.

If it were Edmunds, I actually think that could almost be a player for player swap.

I really hope the bills stay far way from a deal like this.

Not because it's yet another Panther player, but the injury history is too lengthy here.

Not lengthy, just concentrated over the last 2 seasons.

Seems like everyone's forgotten he was injury free for his first 3 years in the NFL.

True but recency bias is going to be at play here.

If the price was right though I'd certainly be interested because he's a big time weapon when available and on the field.

In that case it's recency bias that would make this move an actual possibility.  The Panthers very well could be looking at themselves as a rebuilding franchise and could view shedding their commitment to McCaffery and acquiring draft capital as progress towards that rebuild.

Once again, why do board members consistently float ideas like we actually have a say so... or even the slightest of impact on actual team decisions?!?

I can assure you, McBeane is not on this board looking for ideas. 🤣🤣

It honestly wouldn't surprise me to see either Barkley or EMC in a Bills uniform next season.  Given our connection to both teams/front offices, the trade lines here are there for something to happen.  I think both guys could benefit from a change of scenery and better training facilities.

In terms of health issues, EMC is more concerning.  I would be less concerned about Barkley health issues, as EMC seems to have a lot of soft tissue issues which can be more chronic.  Barkley were a couple bad breaks more than something that seems chronic.

But I think either of these guys are potential candidates to land here in trade in this offseason.  Not saying its a sure thing, but I think its possible Beane at least checks in on both these guys availability.

Barkley would be amazing

And honestly might be a great early call. But I think Singletary keeps his job. He worked his ass off and he played well.

Might as well drop all talk of the draft on here then.

So you are saying get rid of the forums b.c no need to talk about the team since we cannot make decisions.

I like the idea of mccaffrey in this offense and his contract is reasonable but it doesn’t make sense for Carolina to trade him given what they would still owe him. I think it would take too much for the Bills to give up.

Fans act like an All-Pro player is the worst garbage in the world after a down year or injury. They get off on it.

I'd be mad, but people like this are the reason you can make money on the stock market betting against public opinion.

Chiefs trade for him and everyone gets their SB shirts printed. Bills trade for him and the world is ending. That’s how it works.

I think, if I'm reading the contract details correctly, that Carolina takes an almost $27M cap hit if they cut or trade him this year. It's not really feasible to move him until 2023 so I don't think he's going anywhere.

So its 26.6M in dead cap if they cut him.  But trading him drops off the 8.4 in base salary so its just the signing bonus of 12.9 and 5.638M (money they already paid CMC) - so a little over 18.5.  They can split that over 2 years and lower the dead cap to say - 10M.

It isn't a ton of savings (his cap hit is 14.3 in 2022), but if you can get a couple solid picks it helps you in building your team or maneuvering the draft to select the players you covet.  It's more cutting your losses on a bad contract than anything else.

So the summary would be:

18.5M in total dead cap for carolina to either split or eat in 1yr.

Acquiring team gets a 4 year deal - 44M deal with 8.1 guaranteed, and 800K in workout bonuses (200 per year).  1M of 2023 is guaranteed for injury only.  So realistically its a 1yr deal for 8.6M, with 3 team options of 12M per year with 0 cap ramifications.  Very easily restructured if you need cap space as well (and he'd likely sign anything that gave him guaranteed cash).

I have made no secret of the fact that I really want a Jerick McKinnon. The reason being is that he is a very good runner and receiver. The Bills like to go five wide quite a bit, if they get a friendly box, they bring the back in and run the football. Shades of the Patriots and James White. I really like the strategy, but with Singletary and Moss, they are meh receivers. That allows teams to cover him with a linebacker. A guy like McKinnon gives you a very deadly 5 set as he is effective as a runner and receiver. We play so much 1 back, 1 tight end, 3 receivers…11 personnel. A back that is also a deadly receiver makes this something almost indefensible when you factor in Josh Allen’s running ability. You can’t spy etc.

All that said, McCaffrey is the elite version of what I am talking about. Probably the only guy better is Kamara. I wouldn’t be against McCaffrey for that cost. That cost seems unrealistic to me though. I would think Carolina asks for Matt Rhule guy Dion Dawkins, which I would not do. I don’t see why they would want Beasley. The injury situation worries me, but McCaffrey will stay fresh if he plays with a guy like Josh. And his role does not entirely remove Singletary from the equation, which also keeps him fresh.

All that said, would I rather sign McKinnon and Christian Kirk and keep my picks? Probably. But McCaffrey is an elite player, there is no doubt. I think you have to kick the tires when an elite player becomes available and you have to be smart about how much you are willing to give up.

JD McKissic is another shifty McSomething hybrid RB/slot who is a free agent.

120 rec past two seasons...........and better career yards per numbers than McKinnon.

PFF has him at 2 years $5M total for estimated deal.

I kinda like nabbing James White for the role.

James White is another free agent..........he's got some miles on him.......and a season ending hip injury in 2021 doesn't bode well for an older RB.........and he's typically been a below average option to hand the ball off to.........really more of a true "3rd down" back.

That would bring the whole McKissic joke here full circle. But I do prefer McKinnon simply because of his pure speed and I think he is a better player overall, though he has had that one major ACL injury. But I’d be ok with McKissic as well.
