Rest assured,  the Bills fan arrogance was out of control in the early 90's.    Which only made the whimpering and complaining after SB losses more satisfying to the opposition and definitely contributed to the rest of the country getting really sick of the Bills making it to SB's.

yeah, it was out of control on social media, etc.!

People communicated amongst each other before social media.   For real.   "We're back, deal with it America!"

And any pent up energy not used during the week came out at the games.

People would be floored today by the poor treatment Bills fans used to give the opposition during those winning years.

That would be followed up by call in shows and letters to the editor and nightly news reports.

I've cited the Peter King story about the employees at Foxboro referring to Bills fans as "huns".

As wildly insecure as our fanbase is it would be foolish to think that winning SB's would be handled graciously.

I do recall how some Bills fans were back then and yeah at times wasn't a pretty sight, but I wouldn't say any worse than some of what we see today. Maybe the long drought might have made some (not all) change their act.

As for the bold, imo I think if Bills win a SB most/majority would handle graciously. Still will always have those fans for every team here and there that are a-holes. But with all the frustrating years of losing, I think a lot of Bills fans would react a lot better than you think.

My buddy and I arrive Saturday night 8 pm and fly out Monday @9pm.  We have an apartment in P&L and will be looking for some debauchery. My boy is going through a divorce and needs to blow off some steam.  What’s going on this weekend in KC?

Who’s making the trip?

I hear there’s a lotta crazy women there so your boy may be in luck.

I'm just responding to the people wondering if Bills fans will be gracious, in general.

They will not.   There will be much gloating and wearing of gaudy championship gear etc..

They will be trolling opposing teams social media looking for respect/admiration/hate.............especially when the realization hits them that your team winning a championship doesn't tangibly impact much in your life........so there will be a lot of them out on the lookout for satisfaction.

I’m having surgery Monday morning (knee replacement) so no for me. I’m in Nashville so I’ll be watching next weeks game from the recliner with ice on the knee (and in my glass!). I did get to Miami though so all good. Go Bills!!!

Best wishes and good luck!  Hope the Sunday night game chills your own pre game jitters! Hope the Bills give you a great , cheerful, serenity as you head in to surgery the following morning and. I am confident you are headed to better days and more comfortable pacing as the Bills keep marching themselves toward that elusive super bowl!

This is all pretty much crap.   Stop referring to the few bad actors as the majority of Bills fans.  There were a lot of great and gracious Bills fans then, as there is now.  I’ve lived all over the country and have a totally different experience.

Speak for yourself! Every iota of self-respect I have left is tied to the fact that I currently support a championship calibre NFL team. You better believe that it will make a tangible difference in my life if they win a Super Bowl. I will walk taller, speak prouder, be a better father, women will want to be with me and men will want to be me.

I trashed this "crap" take of yours earlier........pointing out how being 1,000 miles from where "the majority" of the fanbase was in 1990 essentially disqualified you from telling me how it was in WNY at the time.

While you were waiting on your copy of Shout! magazine to find out what was going on,  I was here living it every day.

And it' doesn't take "the majority" of Bills fans to make the fanbase look ingracious.

As a "worldly" man myself I spent a good deal of time as a kid visiting my relatives in the Boston area and going to Red Sox and Bruins games and I can tell you that "the majority" of Boston sports fans are actually very nice people.   Humbled by not winning the thing they wanted most......a World Series....... for about 100 years.   Superstitious and fatalistic like a lot of Bills fans.   If anyone can relate to domination like the Pats against the Bills in the 2000's...... it's a long time Red Sox fan after a 100 years of domination by the Yankees.

But to bitter Bills fans on TSW........Boston fans are all spoiled and ingracious in victory and denial in defeat.    In reality,  it's just enough of a % to notice.    But of course,  the "Bills Mafia" would never be like that.   The minute someone in the media has a negative take on the team they try to cancel that person.   Thinking they will be more gracious in victory is ridiculous.

You claim to be an expert on how the Bills fans are perceived based on your knowledge from the inside.  That makes you less qualified.  I had a traveling job and was in both coasts, the south, and the Midwest.  Bills fans are not looked at as negatively as you say.

How one perceives the behavior of a fan base is very subjective. Not only do your feelings/attitude/etc impact it, it also varies by what fans you happen to come into contact with.  As I kept getting better/bigger jobs, I moved around a bit in the 90s.  My experience is that Bills fans strutted a bit more than in the past (who can blame them) and yes, some were idiots. I suspect if you were in WNY the entire time, you saw more Bills fans and, therefore, saw more obnoxious Bills fans.

Social media was more or less non-existent then, so I'm guessing if it happened today, the fans would seem to be much worse, as of course we are expected to just be moronic idiots online every day. People are meaner/crueler online, obviously.  Just take a peek at this forum---and this thread.

The biggest transformation of a fan base, IMO, as been with the Pats* fans. I  lived in the Boston area in the late 80s. It seemed like most of them were NY Giants fans. It was very easy to get a ticket to a game there. I saw very few, if any, Pats* flags flying from cars or in front of houses. Saw a lot of Giants flags, though. I suppose it's somewhat understandable given their amazing success for such a long time. But I consider their fan base to be fairly weak overall. When they hit a losing streak, I suspect many of those fans will disappear.

OTOH, Steeler fans also can be a bit unbearable. But they always seemed like real fans to me. And I've never had an issue dealing with them.

We have a thread on TSW of Bills fans going to the opposing teams fan sites to gloat and enjoy their misery............you can pretend that SB success wouldn't go to Bills fans heads.   It's out of touch,  but you do you.

For those that went...I hope my city treated you well and that you found some good BBQ somewhere.  Congratulations on your victory.

Chiefs fans were almost all a pleasure to interact with. Lovely people out here. A lot of friendly conversations as if we were wearing the same colors.
