I understand that but to change it up a little bit here is a bit of fun thread we did a couple of years ago that I thought I'd revive. We have SEVEN new Head Coaches in the National Football League Jaguars - Urban Meyer Texans - David Culley Jets - Robert Saleh Chargers - Brandon Staley Falcons - Arthur Smith Lions - Dan Campbell Eagles - Nick Sirianni All you have to do is decide of those seven who is he "most likely" to do the following things.... Start someone other than his incumbent starting Quarterback* week 1: Be a 'one and done' Head Coach: Make the playoffs his first year: Win NFL Coach of the Year at some point in his first 3 years: Win a Superbowl in the job to which he has just been hired: Become Head Coach of the Buffalo Bills at some point in the future: *for the purposes of this question the "incumbent starters" are: Minshew, Watson, Darnold, Herbert, Ryan, Goff, Hurts 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Be a 'one and done' Head Coach: Nick Sirianni - only because the majority of these are coming as part of major house cleaning and it is unusual in those circumstances to fire a coach after 1 year. A 3-13 type season in Philly though and maybe Lurie blows the whole thing up. eball Posted February 2, 2021 Share Posted February 2, 2021 Don’t really feel like playing this game, but there are only two coaches on that list who impress me at any level — Saleh and Staley. That still doesn’t mean they’ll be successful, since we have seen “it takes a village” — ownership, GM, HC — to create lasting success. Meyer is an interesting case. You can’t question his success at the college level but will it translate/can he adapt to the professional game? Culley is a completely uninspiring hire. It’s reminiscent of the Bills hiring Chan Gailey, but without the assistant or college coaching success. I actually read something from a reporter who said Sirianni is “sort of smart, but not super smart.” Wow, that should get Eagles fans excited. I literally know nothing about Arthur Smith. And finally, Dan Campbell is a joke. He is, quite literally, a caricature of an “old school, hard-nosed” football coach. It’s going to be entertaining to watch. Saleh because I think he was the best "candidate" on the market and is paired with a good GM and a boatload of picks (although it is the Jets and the Johnsons....), Staley because while I think it was maybe a year too early for him in an ideal world he inherits the best roster and a young QB who had an excellent rookie year and Meyer because he has the force of personality to turn Jacksonville around which it needs and he gets Trevor Lawrence. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
