I don't think we really wanted to keep Lawson or Phillips last year but I think we will put a better effort to try and keep as many as these three as possible. He is coming off of a season where he will at best have missed 6 games and has missed games the previous two seasons. Butler really impressed me in the Steelers game. But he has been pretty invisible before that to me. With Dawkins signed it's probably not realistic to keep Williams. Even if we squeezed him under the cap next year the contract would hurt us down the road. If Morse restructures as was stated above, and Kroft goes, certainly Murphy will go, and possibly one other defensive lineman as Star will be back, then they may find $ for Williams. An intact O Line is excellent for Allen. We may lose Hughes as well if he doesn’t take a much lower contract. He’s 24, shown an incredible work ethic, shown incredible talent, shown he can be hugely effective as a pure pocket passer, shown that he doesn’t need an elite OLine or even a running game to be effective, and finally he’s hugely charismatic and a leader that his teammates love. Mahomes is at $45M per year. Watson is at $39M per year, I think Josh is between those two guys at $42M. 8 years, 336M extension, starting in 2022 35M signing bonus. 4.5M cap hit Pay him about 20M each in year 1 and 2 of the extension. Then about 45M per year for the final 6 when the Cap is past pandemic impact.
