We might not get back to normal as far as going to games, concerts, other large public gatherings until their is a vaccine. That probably doesn't happen until 2021. It's kinda like running presidential polls in February when the election is in November. Sports will return and this will pass. I cannot imagine the rabid NFL fans sitting idly by and not being able to tailgate. That will not go over well. I still remember tailgating in the fall of 2009 amid the H1N1 virus. If we get the timing right on that then by September I expect there to be a season. Whether there is any pre-season / camp and whether there are full stadiums is a question mark. I get that their are much more important things going on in the world like people getting/staying healthy, people going back to work and getting the economy going but it does suck without sports. If training camp can start on time then I think the season starts on time. Otherwise a delayed start or cancelling is possible. Fortunately some of the greediest people on earth are NFL owners. A lot of overly optimistic hot air. The logistics are just too daunting when you start really seriously thinking about it and all the ramifications. As the article says a vaccine is the key. Who knows how long the development and distribution of such will take. I’ve heard anywhere from this fall until this time next year, but no one really knows. No one wants to fathom the idea of no sports until 2021, but it sure is getting to look like that could be the way this thing ultimately shakes out. Figures just when our Bills team is ready to make some serious noise the whole thing gets put on hold. There will be no football until we have this under control. Whether thats a vaccine, better treatment or something that someone a lot smarter than me comes up, the NFL, NFLPA will not agree to play until it is determined safe by the medical community At the end of the day, its entertainment. I find it funny that anybody that posts stuff that is optimistic about the virus is blowing hot air but the doom and gloomers are all about facts. I posted a fact that projected models were not only wrong, but criminally wrong. When NYC opens up, & believe me it will open up before the summer starts, are they going to shut down the subways? Not logistically possible. They haven't even shut down the subways now. Why can subways be open but sports can't. People like you think irrational. If you think this country could stay on lockdown thru the summer/fall your delusional. The leagues will work diligently to make them as ‘safe as possible’ and if, for football, the NFLPA and league agree, the season will most likely move forward. ( sure hope I’m wrong) How this goes over with “rabid fans” is truly unimportant. What is important is not continuously spreading the virus. It is time for folk to find their big boy and big girl pants and put them on, buck up and do the right thing, and hopefully we can keep the willfully ignorant folk in check. Is he right, I don't know but he is updated daily on the numbers with this thing. If football isn't played this fall and we don't have some kind of normalcy then we are much bigger trouble then just having no football season. I really don’t think it would be very difficult to have a season at all, providing there is a reliable, rapid test available. You treat both teams like they are playing an away game. Everyone of the home team gets rapidly tested before entering the hotel the night before. Everyone of the away team gets rapidly tested before getting on the plane.
