Steve going rogue, doing the right thing yet again. For perspective,  this is what is being done in Massachusetts to great success, and falls in line with NYS DOH guidelines for outdoor social distancing.  However, Governor Sugar Nipples and his stooge Howie Zucker won't sign off on it because he is in full blown damage control mode over the congressional investigation into his nursing home policies....

My father is in a nursing home, and 17 weeks later there is no end in sight to their lock down. My mother has called everyone she can think of, and of course there is no response. This is cruel and unusual punishment for not only those in the nursing home, but for their families.  Remember, some of these people are not candidates for a phone call, skype or facetime. The way my father's nursing home is doing doctor's visits is if the person leaves the facility, they must quarantine for 14 days. Needless to say, few are leaving - which will lead to more deaths.

Cuomo will do nothing because he's already got thousands of deaths on  his hands, and does not want more.  There is heat from the first round he killed and he is terrified of the political implications of more elderly dying (yes, political implications, he does not give a rat's patooie about those people as people, he simply cares about  his political wellbeing).

There are not good answers to this problem. It is a shame Cuomo is showing no leadership whatsoever.

2. If tiny droplets can spread the disease why do we need a giant Q-tip jammed in our brain for testing? Shouldn’t a cheek swab suffice?

I have had two tests completed, and a 3rd coming up end of July prior to travel. It is not what you see on TV..barely noticed it

This is an awful chart to use, especially  after a holiday weekend. The Previous 3 days Arizona reported 17 deaths, then 5, then 1 death July 6th. So 4 day average =35. Now, lets see what happens next 3 days off that number...50 will not be a huge decrease, just as 117 was not a huge increase.

IT was a weekend spike like always but I was sharing more to show that the leading states on deaths are (mostly) the ones with leading cases.

i get that, an of course the most cases have the most death...but this weekend with the 3rd being a holiday we even more lag..1 death in Arizona...and unfortunately you had people using that number as proof Arizona had no issue! ( not here BTW).

Things said here within the last week: It's over. It's a hoax. There are no problems in hospitals.

It may be going away but any talk of it being over or a hoax is premature.

Of course! At the same time, the higher death states are the ones that had higher cases a few weeks ago mostly (not sure why NJ is high) so there seems to be a relationship between high cases, hospitalization, and mortality (SHOCKER!).

Arizona reported a total of like 15 deaths over the last 4 days.  Including zero on one of them.  The 117 number averaged over those 4 days when the deaths occurred was around 25.

Same thing likely in most states due to the holiday.  Which puts the last 4 days average around 500.

Sup fellas. Been a few days. I have a couple of questions.
1. Why does the news always share the amount of people that have/had coronavirus and not tell us how many actually have it today? Those that had it and recovered seem to be living normal lives and seeing friends and family without passing the virus on.
2. If tiny droplets can spread the disease why do we need a giant Q-tip jammed in our brain for testing? Shouldn’t a cheek swab suffice?

Brain Damage Caused by Drowning
Anoxic brain injury (ABI), a common consequence of oxygen deprivation caused by drowning, can cause severe neurological damage in people who survive. When the brain is deprived of oxygen, brain cells can begin to die within five minutes.Feb 25, 2019

It’s all about Trump and his re-election. Only reason why he is willing to risk the lives of our kids.

Our kids are F’d either way under Trump.

And why can Germany, Denmark, and other open their school?

Funny how you didn't care for the lives of people who were at risk and died, and are now focusing on the segment of the population that isn't at risk of Covid and needs to get back to school.  I guess you are happy with increased cases of child abuse?

Human pond scum.

BTW, it's not Trump who's playing politics with the pandemic and shutting things down

You’re an idiot.

Maybe I missed it but can you point to a Democrat (in a position of power) who is advocating that we keep kids out of school this fall?

Took 5 seconds.........

Gov. Andrew Cuomo is facing criticism after announcing a plan with Bill Gates’ foundation to “reimagine” schools when they reopen after the coronavirus pandemic.

During a press briefing Tuesday, the New York governor wondered aloud if the “old model” of in-person learning was obsolete with today’s technology. He didn’t say buildings won’t reopen, but said the state is exploring the possibility that K-12 schools will utilize distancing learning in the future.

Coronavirus: School districts try to develop reopening plans without state guidance

New York's school districts must develop plans to reopen schools in the fall even though the state has not yet produced much-needed health and safety requirements or said what districts' plans should cover.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo repeated Monday that he has not decided when schools might reopen. He said a decision will be made "when we get the data."
