swede316
Bass Pro Stadium.......it has a nice ring to it. I like it......Build it right next to Marine Midland and the waterfront....why not and try and redevelop downtown....Casino's and hotels too! Hammered a Lot
It will never happen. I like our current stadium. Plenty of parking. Great neighborhood, even with the Bro ( Hammer) next door. . Multiple routes/thruways to access it. The Bills chose wisely 30 + years ago. With the current lease and the age of our owner, the headline is nothing more than political grandstanding without any substance. Thank You
Pine Barrens Mafia
you are right, I'm going to change my tune. The stadium should be red and blue, with a big observation deck so you can see Niagara Falls on a clear day, or you can look down on the thousands of people waiting in line to get into bass pro shops. I like the toboggan idea, but why not a real ski jump? We might as well build it now so we don't have to when Giambra gets the olympics to buffalo in a few years. The downhill was going to be at chestnut ridge, but the rope tow is closed so they may move it to emery park in east aurora. (anybody ever ski there? Pretty funny stuff). anyway, I'm sorry for all of the negativity and I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEW STADIUM!!!! 298116 LOL great post. A new stadium in WNY has about as much chance as, well, a hot dog in January.
swede316
well, a hot dog in January. Ummm TED"S is still open in January! ....Damn I'd kill for a TED's hot dog. Shoulda never left Buffalo.
Sound_n_Fury
Well said. What a joke. Talk about appealing to people's deepest hopes. What a schmuck. By the way, passing resolutions is cheap, but actually building stadiums isn't. 298248 Here's how seriously The Buffalo News took this proposal. The Warden
city government is so fugged up, that it has been taken over by a control board. In other words, Masiello and the city councilmen should all be layed off since their duties are now being taken care of by others. I can appreciate your enthusiasm for the project. Living in Buffalo for 45 years has taught me otherwise. 298050 A downtown location will make it much easier for the Canadians using the New Peace Bridge

PastaJoe
There is no need for a new Peace Bridge, since no one will be crossing with frequency, because they now have to shell out $$$ for a passport to go back and forth. Build the stadium on a man-made island in the middle of the new Peace Bridge. Canadians can sit on the west side of the stadium, and Americans on the east, if they don't have a passport. They could even set up a Canadian Ballet club on the west side of the island. Have a special low-cost passport that allows people to go anywhere on the island when there's a game. By being in the middle, the Canadians could pick up part of the cost to build it.

Fan in San Diego
I've often felt that a downtown stadium with a "great lakes/niagara falls" theme would be pretty cool. How about a giant waterfall in one of the endzones? That would make a good TV backdrop. Also a good way for the EZC to clean the stink off. Time for TBD'ers to start designing. 298089 Good idea ! Tampa Bay has their pirate ship !

Bills Addict
New Stadium? What, are you guys nuts? (Or have all of your economic problems been sorted out?) 298541 If a good economy was a requirement for a new stadium there wouldn't be newer stadiums in Pittsburgh, Detroit, or Cleveland. The WNY economy isn't great but the Bills are in the top half of NFL profitability and have huge fan support. A new stadium is just what Buffalo needs to ensure the Bills stay here in Buffalo for the long run. Besides with NY State handing the NY Jets a huge check for their new stadium, now is the right time to ask for our piece of the pie for a new football venue. After the taxpayers built Mike Brown's Bengals a new stadium, they started with the PSL's. First thing they did was distribute a phony seating chart - folks who ponied up for a 40 yard seat found their assigned seats were actually on the 20, the 20 yard seats ended up in the EZ. It took a law suit for the B'gals to refund excess $$$ paid and/or provide the promised seats. After a few years as people decided not to renew their season tix, the B'gals said they could not do that, that they actually agreed to purchase season tickets for 10 years or so and would sue any PSL owner who wouldn't pay. That took another lawsuit against the Bengals to stop that garbage.

MarkyMannn
If the key to development is a new stadium, how come there is virtually nothing out at the RWS? ECC, a couple bars, and a convenience store across the street. WHOPEE!!!!

SF Bills Fan
They put a bunch of money into RWS not too long ago. Given the track record for getting major projects done around WNY, this is laughable. The city and county are in fiscal straights. Where would these $$ come from? Then again, I can't wait to drive across the new Peace bridge and take my seat at this stadium and then maybe go and do some gambling at the downtown casino followed by trip to a the fancy new $750 million outer harbor that is sure to be constructed. Just fill in the potholes and figure out a way to get RWS stadium traffic alleviated and I will be pleasantly surprised.

Spun
Lets just say Cablevision's bid for Adelphia today is accepted and the Bass Pro stuff comes through---Downtown Buffalo could actually have some hope with the right incentives and tax abbatements...I know its a pipe dream but I have seen it work other places. 298046 Unless there is more to the story that I am unaware of, I thought the Adelphia and Buffalo marriage went the way of the Edsel? How would Cablevision change that? I would like a stadium downtown as I think it could be instrumental in a downtown renaissance. Fiscally, I am skeptical that Buffalo and New York State could pull it off in the foreseeable future.
Chalkie Gerzowski
Green Goo Field Plant some grass seed on the former Bethlehem Steel site. Put 20,000 bleacher seats surrounding the field. Make sure it is placed right above the remnants of the Manhattan Project still buried underground. Now THAT would be a home field advantage. Fiscally, I am skeptical that Buffalo and New York State could pull it off in the foreseeable future. 298906 The comcast/time warner bid would leave little room for a regional hq in a place like buffalo. A cablevision bid might open up more possibilities for regional headquarters and offices... Time Warner for example has two regional hubs in NC and employs about 2000 folks in the state--Cablevision would need that type of operation somewhere in the new markets it would obtain if it took over Adelphia's. It would be more than just the truck roll folks probably include their marketing, finance, hr and other business functions.
