But are they really a Security Blanket? They may know the offence but that won't help if they aren't good enough to run it.

If Allen or Barkley went down they would sign someone off the street. Coaching won't carry them through games if the QB sucks. Nate Peterman knew the offence and ran it with the same coaches and they couldn't carry the team through a few games.

PS QBs are guys that they don't think are ready for the league but have tools they believe could be good if they can coach them up.

It’s a security blanket in case there aren’t any other QBs they are interested.  Or if that qB got hurt, he’d be the backup.  And to run the scout team.  And what if he improves and shows that he might be able to be the 3rd QB?

My rationale is: There are 10 practice squad spots.  Many of the PS players will never see the field in a regular season game. Ever.  If a team only carries 2 QBs on the roster, why would you not allocate one of those 10 spots to the most important position in sports?  Even if we pick up an experienced street free agent, that QB would be his backup.  He would also run the scout team.  He’s not useless.  That player has a role on the team imo.  Those that say “it doesn’t matter, the season is over” are wrong.

Not sure to be honest. Only the teams participating in the Pathway Program get a player exemption but it doesn’t say whether another team can just put them on their own PS.

I think they may be able to put him on their regular PS, but wouldn't get the '11th man' exception like the Bills can

Is losing Ray-Ray really that much of a loss though?

He has yet to really show that he has the ability to do anything on the field yet

Not a ray ray fan at all . I'm glad someone picked him up, Now we can put easly on the PS .

I am starting to wonder if they aren’t going to make a move there not because Bororquez is good but because we played Punter roulette last year and it also seemed to affect Hauschka kicking FGs. At least this way Hauschka can get comfortable .

Blowing a hold for a field goal was actually the very worst thing that Bororquez did last year.  Got himself hurt on the play as well... if I remember correctly.

Thank god. That experiment needed to end. Wish him the best in his new spot but was never working out here.

I think his best assett was kick returns and they brought in last years best at that this offseason (don't recall if they kept him around though....)

Everytime I thought of him I thought he was this front offices version of Roscoe Parrish

Very glad they kept McKenzie over him. That was a no brainer. But I think as of now I would prefer him on the PS over Easley, in case Beasley or McKenzie go down.

Sure... but I think that everyone is missing the point.  You don't put a quarterback on the practice roster with a plan to have him play for you this year.  If injuries happen and you needed another QB on the active roster, you'd probably still sign someone from the street (like we did last year with both Barkley and Anderson). If you like a young prospect well enough, it just gives you the opportunity to work with the guy for the next 12 months... get him ready for training camp next year.  Mind you... to go to all that trouble, you'd have to really see something special in that young quarterback... like Gruden sees in Peterman.

As well said as your screen name blocked. Check this out at about the 4 minute mark:

The PS seems to be used differntly depending on positions

A PS QB is someone the team feels needs work but is not someone they want to see the field for a while

WR's, RBs, Linemen, they seem to be guys that teams liked but weren't good enough to make the 53 right away and they are being held on the team as a potential fill in later in the year after an injury.

When was the last time a team brought in a PS QB to fill in when their starter went down?
