Thank you Mr. Obvious.   I didn't think they picked Ford by accident.

Just saying that I like Risner.   IMO he was the best available RT and would've been a good fit.  Hopefully Beane, Jeremaiah, etc, are correct and Ford turns out to be a long time starter for the Bills

Anytime

Basically there are two different styles of run offense, zone based and gap-man based. Zone requires smaller, athletic linemen like Garrett Bradbury, Jason Kielce, Andy Levitre. They have to be able to movend get to adjacent linemen and cover space. Power gap schemes involve a lot of downblcoks and double teams and things of that nature. Big, slower linemen who can destroy the inside gap. Picture what we saw with Greg Roman a few years ago.

Th Patriots ran power plays all the way to the super bowl and the Colts decimated our run defense doing the same. As defenses continue to get smaller players to play the pass it makes sense to draft massive linemen and smash the small players. I like the approach.

So...making holes with prejudice. ??

Thanks man.  Education is good even at my age!

Take it easy. It's not really a fair fight.

had to vent, took a lot of abuse the last year.

great picks by OBD this year and last, and I like their plan

leave it to a time lord to calm down posts of the past ?

Fantastic.  Love this pick.  Traded AJ mMcCarron for this guy basically.

Always pick up QBs with potential.

Heck, I'd take Josh Rosen with a few mid rounders if possible and turn him into picks.

Ford allowed only 7 total pressures in 2018 and didn't allow a sack until the college football playoffs!"

This right here^^^

To anyone bitching that we aren't getting more "playmakers": The number one way to help your quarterback make plays is to keep him upright. Ford only allowed 7 PRESSURES in 2018?! Not sacks, but PRESSURES?! Are you KIDDING ME?!

Smokey Brown and Robert Foster will take the lid off defenses. McCoy and Gore will punish them if they don't bring a safety down into the box. Foster or Brown will punish them if they do. But what allows all of this to work? Protection. An upright quarterback. The best receivers in the WORLD don't mean squat if your quarterback is on IR.

GO BILLS!!!

no were are just going to run the ball.

It's hard for a QB to throw the ball when he's on his back or running for his life. Improving the OL will help the passing game. Plus, they upgraded the WRs in FA (a little), there are more rounds in the draft, and Beane has the ammo to trade up again if he sees a WR he likes.

Chill.

Ford can get stronger, he is a natural pass blocker. LG seems a natural fit. RT is possible. Guys like Morse and Ford are natural pass blockers.

I wonder if Buffalo actually drafted a QB and want to protect him.

Imagine JA with one more second to find a guy deep.....

He has the arm that even Mayfield and Murray couldn't exploit.

Really? We have an established starting right tackle? That's funny, I don't see one on the roster.

We HAVE weapons: Foster and Smokey Brown are two of the ten fastest receivers in the NFL. Josh Allen's arm and legs are weapons. McCoy is a weapon. We have 7 more draft picks to keep adding.

I promise, all the weapons in the world don't mean squat if your QB is on IR.

A lot of pressure there. I'm not sure. I think it's either:

Dawkins-Spain-Morse-Ford-Nsehke or

Dawkins-Spain-Morse-Long-Ford with Nsehke as the swing guy and Feliciano as the interior backup.

I hope Ford is a right tackle, but I think he will be really good in either spot. Similar to Dawkins, even though he is a bit shorter, he has long arms (longer than Dillard and Williams) so I think he would be fine at RT and I think that you have to try him there before moving him in. I think Spencer Long will surprise some people at RG but I feel like I am in the minority there.

Why did they not trade up JAWAAN TAYLOR if they wanted a OT?  i would have been fine with Taylor .  Ford is around 6'3

You're right. Morse and Ford, the two most prominent additions on the o-line both have pass blocking as their primary strength. I don't think that's by accident.

Looks like the Bills rightly understand that they invested picks and money in a QB and want to give him every chance to succeed by protecting him. Imagine that.

Yeah who needs weapons when you sign 6 Olineman in FA, and trade up to boot.

You already forgot about Cole Beasley, Smokey Brown ,TJ Yeldon , Gore ,Kroft and the best return man last year in Andre Roberts??

Oh and still have Foster who has tremendous upside , Zay (I still like Zay and feel he makes a big jump in year 3), McKenzie,Duke Williams,Ray Ray to battle out the last spot. And Shady who is still very elite in pass game.

Our weapons week 1 this year compared to week 1 last year will be night and day!!!

Just wanted to say I'm with you here. Long was an upper echelon RG before signing with the Jets. It's why they paid mega-bucks to bring him in. Yes, he had a down year at C with injuries and such. But if he's fully healthy and aloud to concentrate on winning a guard spot? People are sleeping on Long. I think Spain and Long win starting guard spots and Ford or Nsekhe start at RT.

I honestly thought of Ford flip flopping between G and T, as well.

Man, this is such a good problem to have.
