The cap itself is 188.2 - so any worry of dipping below a cap floor is not warranted.  Allocating in the rookie pool of 10ish - we still have room to make a splashy signing and then bring in low cost players to fill out the camp roster.

You wont need 10M for the rookie pool.  By the time the draft roles around I would anticipate the only picks that would count in the top 51 immediately would be your 1,2,3, and maybe both 4ths.  So that would be 6.9M

Factoring in the 4 you mentioned, they're going to be ~$30M under

So likely puts us around $30M left? And we'd want to have $15M or so for draft picks and filling out the roster.

I guess we could sign one more impact player (Ansah?), or two more borderline starter types?

After draft picks were at like 33m left so think 25ish left after filling out the roster?

I think there could still be a splash move remaining

They should have about 15.4 million left to spend, draft picks included.     Not sure how much more they are going to spend, they held on to between 8 and 12 million dollars for in season moves last year.

Yeah, I'm assuming that they have between 30 and 35 in space now, and are going to want to keep 15-20 in reserve for draft picks and in-season moves.  So they have ~15 left in AAV to toss out, which means either one splash move or a few tier-2 moves.

I would want to roll over a decent cap for free agency in 2020.  Improve run defense now would be the exception.   jmo

No need...they can use up all of their cap space for 2019 and still enter 2020 in a similar position as they entered 2019.  As of today, they have the 13th-most players signed for 2020 and have the 11th-most cap space.

Assuming they keep all 10 draft picks, and 7 of them make the team, they'll probably end up in the top-10 for both metrics.

Right

The way these contracts are set up didnt Beane put us in a great position to get out of them if needed next year?

Beane is managing this cap like a boss!

Apparently I was perhaps a tiny bit too conservative:

That doesn’t account for the $6M or so more that they will get with the release of Vlad, Ivory and Bodine correct? I am almost assuming those as definites which would put them in the $21M range to spend.

So we are probably looking closer to $30M?

Correct.  Definitely possible to make a splash move, have the draft, let the above-mentioned go, sign draft picks, and still have $10M left for in-season moves
