Beane Acknowledges QB "Mistake" by Not Getting Anderson Sooner

He's rusty as hell.  If he were in earlier, the level of preparedness would be better in terms of knowing the offense and personnel.

He never was good.

This reverence for him by McDermott and Beane just shows their willingness to scrape the bottom of the barrel.

McDermott was actually talking about how Allen will learn watching Anderson conduct a walkthrough.

Then he goes out and throws 3 Ints and fumbles against the Colts.

Send him packing please and stop with this mentor nonsense.

They made the decisions they made at that point with few good to decent options remaining.  That's squarely on Beane and McDermott.

There were zero good to decent options remaining because of their QB incompetence in the off season.

Someone had too say someting at OBD.

The QB situation is a league wide joke.

Maybe Pegula  sent out the memo for somene too take ownership publicly for this situation.

But the Anderson comments makes one wonder if Beane has any clue what

too look for when scraping underneath the dumpster.

Didn't Anderson turn down beane in pre season? Something here smells like BS.

My dad always says "Learn by doing."

I make mistakes at work and hopefully won't repeat them.

Let's hope it doesn't happen again at ANY position on the team.

***Side note: WHAT THE F, BRANDON? Do better please!***

not everyone learns the same, some learn by watching, some by reading/studying.

Even though no longer a part of the organization, I don't know if we want/need to hear Russ Brandon's mistakes.

My understanding was that Beane said that, not Brandon.

Quote
Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane, unlike McDermott, admitted to the Buffalo News this week that he made mistakes in regard to the quarterback position.

Beane traded away AJ McCarron to the Oakland Raiders after Peterman beat him out for the starting job. Beane then waited until October to sign another veteran option until in Anderson. The GM called it like he saw it, and he didn’t even need to watch the tape to make his analysis.

“In hindsight, I made a mistake. I should have got Derek here as quick as possible, once we let AJ go,” Beane said.

no gm is perfect and qb is one of the most mismanaged positions there is.  Look at the packers last year when favre went down. How did they not know Hundley was terrible?  So many other examples.  The eagles with Foles are such an anomaly.

The problem is that Bills fans see Foles -- a complete anomaly -- or Brady, or Warner, and don't understand why they don't get their anomaly.

They would literally keep blowing up the team over and over and over until they found that one exception. And often times they sound a lot like Veruca Salt.

Truth be told, as much fun as it is to bash the PeterMAN, is he really that much worse than Allen or Anderson?

I think quibbling over the timing of Anderson's signing is like shifting furniture in a burning building.

Yes he is. Far greater physical limitations with historically bad turnover ratio combined with horrid decision making and panic under pressure.

"Measure twice, cut once"

Both the HC and GM seem inclined to quick, decisive action.  That's typically a good thing, but can also lead to some spectacular misses.   I hope this debacle teaches them to be a bit more flexible and reflective in coaching approach and building a roster.

If not, they're just another set of Bobbsey Twins passing through on their way to somewhere else...

Yeah - they really don't give you tons of flexibility with 53.  45 on game days and 3 specialists.  Considering the frequency of injuries in the NFL you'd think they would want more active.  But that would lower minimum contracts - or adjust the owners revenue split.

He's THAT MUCH worse? Like QB play is night and day when it's Allen vs. Anderson/Peterman?

I definitely HATE when the Bills don't move the ball or score points, so that much is true.

The HOPE is that Allen develops, but at this point, I don't see much difference.

Yes, he really is.  That being said, you're likely a troll and just saying that to be at some level obnoxious.

Allen is one of the most physically gifted QB's in the league, but that has not translated to the field in any appreciable, sustainable way.

The QB play is marginally better when he's in there.

I'm simply stating that signing Anderson in the preseason would not have made a significant difference and it's way down the list of our problems on offense.

I'll be cheering for the PeterMAN on Sunday because I'm a Bills fan. I expect any Bills fan will do the same.
