Those are all things you need to weigh.   If you have the first pick you probably aren't trading down much further than five.  So if you trade down to five, still get an elite talent at a position of need and then add a future 1st round pick as well I think you need to consider it.

Basically, do you want Nick Bosa or would you rather have both Greedy Williams and N'Keal Harry?

Agreed

Personally, I'd rather have the elite prospect than 2 good ones

Said Donahoe when he drafted Willis McGahee or Buddy Nix when he drafted CJ Spiller.

We're not talking about pick #23 here (or even #9)...the post was about trading down from a top 3 pick--a pick at which you should be getting an elite talent; not a top-10 talent

Big difference

If Allen works out, then they really did not. They may have got two elite players in addition to their QB. I get the frustration as Mahomes is looking like an MVP and Watson has looked good at times, but as you said, Allen does remain to be seen, but his ceiling is very high, so to say they blew the '17 draft is premature.

I honestly hope you're right.

According to the genius Bills GMs who made those picks, I guess they were.  Anyway, those picks were justified as BPA.

As for elite pass rushers, if you replace Hughes with a JJ Watt who is in his prime, how many more wins do the Bills have this season with their current offense.

How many more years do the Bills have to tank before they add talent to the offense?

Anyway, it looks like Hughes is staying, and the defense will likely finish top 10 while the offense falls to 32nd.  It'll be interesting to see how Beane decides to build a modern NFL offense next season.

And those guys were idiots.

I agree that the offense needs to be fixed, but not entirely at the expense of the Defense. You don't overpay for offense just because the defense is okay. You gotta be wise about it.

So you're talking about a Marcel Dareus, Mike William's, or Sammy Watkins type of talent? ?

But in this case, the defense is actually pretty good, with major investments made in it the last two seasons.  The offense has died on the vine.

Right, and that's why I would rather trade down and use two picks on offense as opposed to the defense.

But if the question is would I rather have Jerry Hughes, and an Overdrafted WR (ala Watkins) taken at #3 or Nick Bosa and a third round pick to spend on a receiver,

I gotta go with Bosa and the pick.

I think we're in alignment on the first point, but not as much on the second,  but that's cool.  Thanks for the discussion! ?

Like I said.....

Everything is being pushed to 2019.....Beane didnt want to give up any of his draft picks

My only hope here is that Shady is now on the team next year....please do not release him in the offseason if your not going to get what you can for him now.   Just keep the same RB's and dont create a new hole.

Ian Rappaport just said on NFL Network that he knows the Bills did not make any trades today.

So no KB like surprise after the deadline.

I guess beane thinks the offense is all set and he didn’t need additional reinforcements or draft picks.  I am beginning to sour on beane.  We gave up Cordy Glenn, picks 12, 53, and 55 for josh.  Like I stated over and over- keep the picks, build the lines, draft skill positions, and don’t give up all those picks for 1 player.  We would have 3 new starters with those picks. Don’t make the move for a qbunless we are close and certain they are the qb.  ***** giving up all those picks!

josh Gordon and a 7th for a 5th.  Demaryous for a 4th.  Good ***** luck finding Demaryous in the 4th

Maybe they wouldn't let Beane make any trades cause they figured "let's not let this guy do more damage than he's already done" lol

That's probably not too far off. Just let McD make all the player personnel decisions. Beane is just a puppet. If this team eventually fails it will be on Sean.
