Punt75
Everybody seems to be caught up in the DRAMA of trading up in the draft. Do you really think our level headed GM & HC will do that??? It’s a crazy thought – crazy! We have 2 #1’s, 2#2’s, 2#3’s - - that’s 6 players in the top 100 picks. The TEAM needs WR’s, OL’s, LB’s, another DL. Take the best QB left at #12 or #22 (Mayfield, Jackson or Rudolph) and let McCarron start. Build a solid, competitive team for years to come with these picks! This isn't crazy!

Build a solid, competitive team for years to come with these picks! This isn't crazy! It's not that simple. They don't have a proven starting caliber QB on the roster. They traded the one they had for a pretty substantial pick. They have a huge need at QB that trumps all others. There are probably 4 QBs in this draft that they have a first round grade on. Two will be gone by the time pick 4 is on the clock. Do they wait for late in round one to take a QB they have a second round grade on? If they don't somebody will. Pick 22 might even be too late, though that would be largely unprecedented. Their first priority is pretty clearly getting a starting QB. It's not crazy to think a move up is coming. It's probably required. They tried and were bested by a team with more to offer. The quest continues....
BillsFanForever19
Would you have thought it were crazy if we were able to sell the farm and move up and get Eli, Rivers, or Big Ben instead of settling for Losman?

The OP is arguing that they won't give up a bunch of picks to get one pick. As in, he is saying it would be crazy to consolidate multiple top 60 picks into one pick. The Glenn trade up was converting a veteran player into what is essentially extra draft pick position. One move is in line with team building through the draft (and in the same vein as trading Watkins and Darby), and the other move would shift a good portion of the team building into future free agency. Maybe you should have written this thread. I also understaood what his original point is, but his position is poorly worded. As it stands, it comes off like the philosophy of trading up would make them nuts. Edited March 18, 2018 by RalphWilson'sNewWar correction

Lfod
I love the GM and HC. I just thought that if I had to sit through a year of Mr. Peanut or 5 pick Peterman playing in a new system under an unproven OC that the consolation prize would be a high drafted QB. That way if the offence crashes and burns under the Bengals backup at least I have a hope in that last ace up the sleeve. I'm not all gloom and doom and it isn't over yet but that Jets jump to #3 kinda hurt my hopes to have that Ace up the sleeve. T-Bomb
The reason you acquire all those picks is to get a franchise QB, without one, all those shinny new players will waste away on a ****ty team that doesn't have a franchise QB...
