Philly deadline to get under the cap: Nick Foles

I don't think Philly has a choice, they have to trade him. They're up against the cap. I think 53 and 65 could get it done. I would part with 22 and 158 if I had to. Still much cheaper than trading up for Rosen or whoever else.

Not if Foles reverts back to his normal play

Tbat ogfense requires on-field dwcision making.  He's shown he can do it.  That thinking skill is very valuable.

It may be the MOST valuable. One could argue it is the quality that Bills QBs ( since JK) have lacked . They've had QBs with arm talent , mobility etc. That internal clock and processor makes the difference between an elite QB and another Rob Johnson. Foles is not elite , but the guy can play.

Yes it will. What do you think you are giving up to get Foles???

The Ammo need to go get a top rookie.

Just say no to journeymen

Exactly. If the Bills made this trade it would not be for a bridge.  They would be committed. It is this or try to trade up, not both.  I am not in favor of writing in Foles as the Bills QB for the next five years.  Wrong answer.

Here's the question:

What would you have given up to bring Foles in a year ago? A 2nd rounder? a 6th rounder? A one year vet minimum contract?

What has changed in that time? Is he a different QB now? Did he suddenly "get it?"

Or did he simply have a great 4-game stretch with a loaded team and a great coach?

Why do so many of you want to buy high all of the time?

I don't see Foles as the long term answer the Bills have been looking for since 1996.  It's as simple as that.

I'd rather sign a UFA QB and keep my 2nd and 3rd.

Actually I think Foles could be the long term answer, but as I  think about it I think you're right about signing a free agent  QB instead.  Bridgewater or Kewnum or Bradford could be as good a solution and won't cost draft capital.

Do you think Darnold could start right away or would he need time to develop? What about Rosen/Mayfield?

I think all three can start day One. After them the rest need development time

Maybe an inconsistent 29 year old QB is good enough for you, but I'd like the Bills to have better.

Like an inconsistent 21 year old with poor throwing mechanics, lousy footwork and accuracy issues, who hasn't even played a down in the NFL?

Guess your not talking about Rosen and or Darnold here so which Rookie you talking about

Another question is, do you think Foles is demonstrably better than Keenum/Bridgewater/Bradford/Moore/McCarron/etc.? If he is, then is he worth the two 2nd round picks or more - it'll cost to trade for him?

In other words, why pay a premium in draft picks for Foles when you can pick up one of the other FA QBs and not give up any picks to do so?

Rosen's got probably the best out of the top five... -Darnold has serious mechanical issues, as does Jackson. -Mayfield neds help in that regard as well.

What could you possibly have against a proven leader like Nick "Philly special" Foles... -Smh

That is is just a middling avg QB and not a solution long term at the position.

Keenum is going to go for the best money.  He has been in the NFL for 8 seasons and has only made 7 million total.

Spotrac has his value at 20 million per year.  Don't see the Bills pursuing that.

Bridgewater probably has to sign a "prove you are healthy" contract.  I can see the Bill's being interested in that.

Let's see if he comes to Buffalo for an early visit.

Bradford.  Yeesh.  Do teams think he is a "long term" answer anymore?  If so, I don't see the Bills being interested.

If he falls into the second tier because of "availability" issue, Beane could be interested with a short term contract.

If Beane gets a Rosen/Mayfield (if those are his possible guys) AND can get Foles..............

Maybe if Beane is as good as we hope he is..............he could trade off Foles after we don't need him anymore to

get back some of the draft capital we used to get him.
