He is not anything like Tolbert except being a vet. Tolbert was actually a FB who played RB here. Ivory is an actual RB who is 2.5 years younger, faster, 3inches taller and about 30 lb lighter. He's not making big money. How much of the problem was Jacksonville? Leonard Fournette rushed for 3.9 ypc and he barely managed that. Through the first 8 games Fournette was averaging 3.4 ypc, I know this cause I followed him. So a top 5 RB that should probably be getting 5.0 ypc couldn't even break 4.0. But their results are similar, two years of sub 3.8 ypc. Again, I don’t really care as long as this doesn’t end up being the same situation we saw last year with Tolbert. I'm not saying he's fantastic, but Fournette averaged 3.9, and only had 3 games all year where he was above 4. Our defense was very mediocre against the run, and we bottled up their run game pretty handily in the playoffs. I suspect a lot of teams did that the last 2 years. I sat in a clinic with their o-line coach Pat Flaherty last week. Great guy who coached the line for the Giants during their Super Bowls. The two things I learned watching their coaches film is that Cam Robinson has a some potential and their line is not very good. He he also spoke highly of Fournette and Ivory. Luxy312 Posted March 7, 2018 Share Posted March 7, 2018 I don't mind the signing at all. The Bills needed a better backup plan for McCoy than Mike Tolbert. The low YPC numbers don't really bother me all that much, in light of just how bad Jacksonville was at running the ball. The Bills weren't great at it either, which makes Ivory even more valuable as a receiver, which he's pretty good at. He'll be able to do more as a backup than what anyone else on the roster could do last year. He's not a huge expense, and the Bills are not moving on from McCoy anytime soon. I just looked up receiving #'s for both. Ivory averaged 8.8 yards per catch over the last 2 in JAX. Tolbert had 5.9 last year with BUF. Someone posted earlier that Ivory is ranked high in pass blocking (I don't have access to those numbers). If someone has those numbers I think it would nice to see them. FWIW.
