well that was more exciting than it had to be.

Oddly, it's actually better if the Titans beat the 49ers, assuming they will lose to the Rams and Jags...we need a three or 4-way tie at 9-7.

Of course, beating the Pats next week would really help, too.

Mike Rodak ESPN Staff Writer

Hall of Fame RB Thurman Thomas on Bills reaching 8-6 for third time since 2000: "There's been a lot of ups and downs. To have them at this point in the season right now, to go through everything they've been through -- six trades and quarterback switch and all that -- to have them at 8-6 and being in this position right now, still having an opportunity to make the playoffs, it's still great. Obviously, they still need a lot of help. But I don't think a lot of people expected them to be here right now at this point in the season, at 8-6. These guys keep plugging away. They don't have a lot of superstars or guys that are Pro Bowl players or what have you, but they've hung together. Coach McDermott has kept these guys together."

Tyrod Taylor rebounds yet again to keep Bills in playoff race

The quarterback put together one of his best first-half performances of his career in a win over Miami as the Bills' hopes stayed alive.

The Buffalo Bills treated their fans to another home victory in the cold, this week against the visiting Miami Dolphins, by a score of 24-16. Bills QB Tyrod Taylor connected on a touchdown pass to running back LeSean McCoy before running in another touchdown himself to give the Bills a 21-6 halftime lead, that they would not relinquish.

Dolphins QB Jay Cutler tossed three interceptions in the contest, including one on Miami’s final play after they had gotten an onside kick attempt, down just eight points. Cutler was pressured and tossed an errant ball into double coverage to be intercepted by Bills rookie CB Tre’Davious White, ending any threat of a comeback. Cutler’s three interceptions were the game’s only turnovers and with that, we give you our PFF-exclusive takeaways from the contest for each team.

TOP 5 GRADES:

CB Tre’Davious White83.2 overall grade

Eric Wood81.9 overall grade

CB Shareece Wright81.8 overall grade

OG Vladimir Ducasse81.7 overall grade

Micah Hyde81.0 overall grade

PERFORMANCES OF NOTE:

TE CHARLES CLAY79.1 OVERALL GRADE

Clay was heavily involved in Buffalo’s game plan as he was the team’s most frequently targeted receiver by a significant margin and was used often in run blocking too. While Clay did drop two of his seven catchable targets and gave up a couple tackles in the running game, he made several contested catches and led Buffalo’s receivers with 68 receiving yards.

QB TYROD TAYLOR77.2 OVERALL GRADE

Although Taylor slightly struggled on deep passes and completed just one of his six pass attempts that traveled at least 20 yards from the line of scrimmage, he was a big reason behind Buffalo’s win on Sunday afternoon. Buffalo’s signal-caller did well to extend plays and averaged 8.5 yards per quarterback scrambles; however, his touchdown run came on his only designed run, a quarterback draw.

CB TRE’DAVIOUS WHITE83.2 OVERALL GRADE

Continuing an impressive rookie season, the Bills first-round draft pick allowed just three receptions for 58 yards from eight passes thrown into his coverage. One of those was a long shot down the right sidline to DeVante Parker, but White also had a pass breakup and an interception, finishing the game having allowed an NFL passer rating of just 24.0.

CB SHAREECE WRIGHT81.8 OVERALL GRADE

White wasn’t the only Bills cornerback to find success today, with Shareece Wright not allowing a reception from the three passes thrown into his coverage. Adding an interception, he ended the game with an NFL passer rating allowed number of 0.0.

You know the Bills won, right?

They even played a team that gets paid to play as well.

TOP 3 THINGS WE LEARNED FROM BILLS-DOLPHINS

top-3-taylor-12-3-story.jpg

Tyrod Taylor's production against Miami continued, big plays were kept to a minimum by Buffalo's 'D' and the Dolphins stingy third down defense wasn't an issue.

1 – Taylor likes playing Miami
2 – Defense limits big plays
3 – Dolphins 3rd down ‘D’ defeated

Buffalo 24-16 over Miami

MIA.png Dolphins: C-

Jay Cutler must have used up all his holiday magic against the Patriots last week because he looked terrible against the Bills. The Dolphins quarterback threw three interceptions in the second half and somehow, each one was actually uglier than the one before it. The worst pick came with under a minute left in the game after the Dolphins recovered an onside kick.

Cutler might want to think about re-retiring.

BUF.png Bills: B-

In a game where LeSean McCoy became just the 30th player in NFL history to hit the 10,000-yard mark, it's almost fitting that he accounted for half of the Bills points in this win. Not only did McCoy rush for 50 yards and a touchdown, but he also caught four passes for 46 yards and another touchdown. The Bills weren't great, but sometimes "not great" is good enough to win, especially when Jay Cutler spends most of the second half throwing interceptions.
