A great stat supplied by Rich Gosselin today

There have been 30 individual 300-yard passing games this season. Quarterbacks having those games have a combined record of 16-14. (Listen to WGR complain our wins dont have a 300yrd passer)

There have been 18 100-yard rushing games this season. Running backs having those games have a combined record of 17-1 this season.

Also of Note:

Only two NFL defenses have not allowed a 300-yard passer, a 100-yard receiver or a 100-yard rusher this season – Buffalo and Denver. The Broncos lead the NFL in defense and the Bills rank ninth. Both teams are 3-1.

The prevalent fantasy football crowd tends to equate yards passing with strong QB play. This has never been true and it remains to this day in spite of rules favoring the passing game.

When you look at the playoff QB's and QB's that make it to the super bowl your looking at 4000+ and 28+ TD's. I know Matt Ryan and Tom Brady easily hit those numbers last year. You cannot get those number without passing for 300 multiple times and multiple TD's.

You could probably go back 5 years and almost every QB in the playoff had 4,000+ and 28+ TD's. I want to get into the playoffs and get to the super bowl, you will never do that with 190 yard passing games.

Uh you posted this before and I posted the actual statistic on it. Last year 5/12 Qbs met that criteria. 5 years ago 4/12 Qbs met that criteria. So no, almost every QB in the playoffs did not have 4000+ and 28+ TD's.

........laughable how 300 yds is the magical and mythical number, isn't it?.....hell if TT averaged ONLY 250 yds/game over 16 games, that's 4,000 yds passing.....throw in a combined 1,500 yds rushing overall and you have 5,500yds of offense....would have ranked #12 in 2016 and certainly wins some ball games I would think.....Pack averaged 335 at #16 and won ten games....Steelers averaged 322 at #21 and won eleven...

More importantly the Bills lead the league in scoring defense. They have shut down three high powered offenses.

Tyrod is a decent QB - he's a middle of the pack guy. Why do we have to keep debating this?

In order to be in the top 10, he'd to have to pass for more yards to extend drives with his arm as well as his legs - throw for more TD's (IMO, he's about 5 away) - get better at the proverbial 2:00 offense.

Sad part is he even has problems hitting 200 and your putting him at 250 average. Fans want better because they see how other teams QBs hit 300+ in multiple games in a season, a good QB can do it while Tyrod needs a extra quarter to do it, it's why many point to it and want the upgrade.

If we had a 300 QB on this team with this D this team would be unstoppable and dominating teams unlike the close wish for 50+ yard field goals.

Fans dont want more passing yards - maybe Fantasy goofs - fans want wins!!

And many fans can see Tyrod has an Off line (right tackle) that provides virtually no protection but Tyrod's ability to scramble mitigates that disaster. Many fans also see the WR core he is being asked to throw to - yet we still see production and when we see lack of production its most often due to 3 runs into a stacked line rather than allowing TT to get in space and throw

Some continue to blame everyone but Tyrod, it's been going on for sometime now.

He won't respond to this and he will post his criteria again in more threads as if this never came up.

Yes, having an exceptional run game and an exceptional defense can lead to winning games.

Right now the Bills don't have an exceptional run game. 27th in YPA and 25th in DVOA. Meanwhile our pass game is 9th in YPA and 11th in DVOA despite having no receivers that would be a #1 or #2 on almost any team in the league. Tyrod is the only reason we have any kind of passing game right now but the coaches aren't stupid. We're not going to air the ball out 40 times a game to our no-name receiving corps, not until we absolutely have to.

I would love to see a team where the QB isn't the reason for having pass game. What team leads the league in HB option passes?
