BringMetheHeadofLeonLett
There are brief moments in time I truly miss, as I root around in my dust-knoggin. The window was really short- before the record 'execs' learned to tell us that 'grunge' was really Pearl Jam, and some 18 other variants, That said, before music was exploited by the cynical, there was such an explosion of fantastic stuff- the crap I scoffed at at the time, see Breeders, Cannonball... anything Smashing Pumpkins) I would Kill to have be pop music nowadays. 2

Great call on Dinosaur Jr! Freak Scene is probably my favorite J tune. He does a great cover of Show Me The Way I also dig Sebadoh

Amongst others, these two stood out for me. The outro to Fat Bottomed Girls is great!

BringMetheHeadofLeonLett
A little Dramarama appreciation trip here- pretty good band, caught in the middle of the LA post-paisley thing, but too 'alt' for the Sunset Strip scene. Working backwards... sorta, the last song was their first airplay (see Rodney Bingenheimer), the first song was off a mix tape from a girl named Brandy, and the middle one may be... just right

BringMetheHeadofLeonLett
Wow! I swear I didn't look at this thread - for weeks - before posting- I was on a road trip. Must be ol' mix tape season or something. Bravo to 70's, Pete & DrW! oh, and if your tastes range there, maybe don't disregard the song I said to disregard... there's an odd beauty to that one for a sweaty front-porch evening listen. BringMetheHeadofLeonLett
I still have no idea what this song was all about- was it a Chubby Checker dance craze hopeful that involved rubber-bands... I may never know, but Live, it's a blast, and I love all of the backup singers: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Jte7Jhii4e0 1

DrW
IMHO, JA's Volunteers is underrated. My personal favorite... The song was not very typical for the Stones, but I liked it despite the pretty inane lyrics. What do these two songs have in common? Of course, it is Nicky Hopkins on piano. For an encore, here is the intro of Lennon's "Jealous Guy". Hopkins died much too early from Krohn's disease in 1994 at the age of 50.
