What the bills need to get better production from their QB is a brick wall of an O-line. Load up front and then get a reasonable decision maker to make a few throws and manage a game. If Alex Smith can go to the playoffs regularly, then there are non-elite options available that can get the job done, but not unless the QB can use play action to set and throw. The running game is fine, but we need a QB that can throw from the pocket on time. The Bills traded back in the round and selected EJ. How do the Bills get an elite QB? If the Bills didn't miss, this would not be a topic. The problem is missing. Not our draft position. Nor is it the number of draft picks we have or how we trade them for whatever. But get a premium talent at QB at all cost, basically. If you gotta give away THREE years first rounders, do it. Then for the next three years make sure your drafting is SPOT ON. Build the team around "the guy" The premium talent was there in the 4th round...They misidentified...Wentz has looked mostly terrible since the first 4 games...once teams figured him out he didn't have much to combat it... Guys like Wilson and Prescott are NOT available every year! The Bills traded for high draft picks for Bledsoe and that made the team a playoff contender two out of the three years he was here. The only other thing the Bills haven't tried is drafting a QB at the top of the draft (Top 3). Look at the Bucs and Titans, those teams were terrible for some time and this year they were playoff contenders with their QB's being in year two of the league. The Bills need a QB of that caliber. Theyre an example of an organization that placed a premium on the QB position. An organization that had balls to do whatever it takes to get the f****** guy they wanted. Listen, this is not hard to understand. Im not saying use the Philly model to build a team. Im saying use the do whatever it takes model to get a franchise QB. The only way the Bills are going to have a real shot of competing against the Patriots is to have an elite QB that can pass for 300-400 yards and put more than 30 points against them. Should the Bills contact the Saints and try and trade for Brees (it would take some high draft picks) or wait two or three years and trade up in the draft when an elite collegeQB is available at the top of the draft (would take a few #1 draft picks)? Between 2000 and 2015. 208 QBs drafted. Elite QBs are Brady, Brees, and Rodgers. Above average (relative success) are Pennington, Palmer, Eli Manning, Rivers, Roethlisberger, Flacco, Stafford, Newton, Dalton, Luck, Wilson, Cousins, Carr, Winston and Mariota. 187 guys did not get it done. There is sentiment on TBD that you draft one every year until you hit gold. I would prefer they draft the best QB on the board but no reaches. Big Gun Posted December 28, 2016 Share Posted December 28, 2016 Tyrod has 12 int in 816 attempts with the Bills So, Ben has 13, Eli has 16 this year and they're going to the playoffs, Newton had 10 last year and went to the SB, A Smith has had 14 the past 2 years and gone to playoffs both years.
