Bye week team update: Everybody have a nice week off! See you all* a week from, what? Monday? Nah, make it Tuesday!

*Percy Harvin excepted depending on if he feels like showing up or not

With all the issues this underachieving team has, the coaches think the best approach is to give the players the week off? ??????!!!!!!!!!!

Yup. I understand some time off to rest their bodies, but the whole week off for a team with their backs against the wall like the Bills are makes me shake my head. It's one thing for fans (like me) to declare their playoff chances dead, but another entirely to see the coach shrug his shoulders at a time like this.

It's part of the cba. They have to have at least four straight days off.

Yup, brought up and ignored in the other thread. Rex realistically only gave them Monday & Tuesday off. Monday would have been a waste after traveling back from London.

They got back into Buffalo on Monday. Then Rex had to give them 4 days off including a Saturday. So they get Tuesday off. If not, it would have been like working the day before Thanksgiving. What were they going to accomplish before they went to DizzyLand?

Has anyone heard if they are going to practice Sunday? The 4 days will be up.

That damn CBA. What did the owners get in return? Limited practice time plus limited practices in pads and helmets and we've seen a decrease in the quality of play

@SalSports

Yesterday, I wrote team stats Bills need to improve. Now, here's where they've done well on Off, Def, ST thru 7 gms: http://www.wgr550.com/Team-stats-Where-Bills-have-done-well-through-seve/22124797

Yup.

These numbers indicate what’s true but not recognized - the Bills defense is actually playing pretty well this season. The reason that isn’t recognized is because they’re not getting to the QB enough, not making enough big plays, and have failed to make a few key stops. If those areas can improve and be married with the yards allowed here, the defense can get right back to where everyone expected it to be this season.

I have no issue with this.

Must Watch: Every Interception This Season (1:54)

Check out every interception made by the Bills defense over the first seven weeks of the season.

5 things we learned about the defense

There's no question the pass rush totals haven't been where many expected them to be, but there are a lot of other encouraging signs from Buffalo's defense through the first seven games.

it seems like there are a lot of posters under the impression that the team decided to give them the extra 1-2 days after Sunday's game and feel it's inappropriate because they lost. In reality, these decisions are made far in advance of knowing the result of the game. The length of time off during the bye week was likely made before the season started.

I don't know if it's the right or wrong thing to do, but it certainly makes sense in some ways. I would guess that they want to look at the rest of the games as a new season (considering that if they do get most starters back they will literally look like a different team when they take the field again). The coaches aren't taking any time off and are spending the time self scouting and honing the schemes.
