I've read that the waterfront area is cool newer spot but what would be there better hotels to stay at? any info is appreciated

We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Canalside this past weekend...it's been open for a little more than a year and it was outstanding. Very clean, modern rooms, a little place they call the "Bistro" where you can get food/drinks, and a gym/pool downstairs. The 716 Bar is right across the street as well as the Metro. Highly recommended.

Staying at the Lofts on Pearl this weekend. Will give an update as to how we liked it after the weekend.

Will say the place is a bit pricey , but having a place where a group can watch college football with a full kitchen was attractive. Also, the fact of having two seperate bedrooms is very nice , especially come Sunday night when your roommate been doing nothing but drinking beer and eating meat for the last 36 hours.

I have that place bookmarked for later this season, it may be pricey, but if you break it down per person it is reasonable.2 bedrooms and the couch pulls out so it breaks out as cheap as any of the other places downtown.

You won't be able to get a room. They had a "soft" opening a couple of weeks ago but are not running at full capacity yet.

Just checked, rooms are available, but the cheapest one is $251/night.

Courtyard Buffalo is $189...

They Hyatt is pretty nice as well. It's a distance from Canal Side, but close to the metro rail...

Cool, they must have opened more up. Will have to try it for a future trip.

Get ahold of Flutie Flakes or mead107, they stayed at a decent place that was only 30 minutes away...

stayed there in July. It is awesome!!! Seriously we loved it. Walking distance from everything downtown and it is a very modern looking apartment that has been converted to a hotel room.

Edit: they also give you a voucher for breakfast at the diner they have downstairs at Pearl Street brewery. It is great hangover food!

Other options.

There's the Lafayette Hotel too which is certainly walking distance to all or a block from the free main street metro rail. It has an upscale restaurant and a pub operated by Pearl Street Brewery.

If you want to stay near the Elmwood strip, there's a new Inn in my neighborhood:

I'm coming into town for the Cowboys game too and am thinking the Hyatt based solely on cost and reviews. Anybody have any feedback?

I have never stayed there, but I have been to several conferences and it's really nice. Good location as well, walking distance to several bars and very close to the metro rail. EB Green's is a great steak house located inside the Hyatt as well...

the mansion on Delaware would be a cool place to stay:

There is also the Avant Embassy suites are really nice

Hampton Inn is good

Plenty of options...

We have rooms for the Dolphins game...Sabres 1.00pm Saturday game. Used points for that one

That is exactly what we are doing, 3 to a room. Will let you know we liked it. Edited by plenzmd1

Good location if you don't want to stay in the city. Close to a lot of restaurants and bars as well. about a 30 minute ride to the stadium.

Man, I just don't know why anyone wouldn't want to stay downtown these days. Lots going on. It's a fun place.

the Mansion is great for a couple , but i don't know about during a football week.

Yes and yes. Gotta love the daily cocktail hour and butler service!

The Adams Mark has nice rooms and location but the lobby and other areas are a bit tired.

Disagree. It's a complete dump. They should go out of business with all of the new places popping up.

So kinda of a mixed bag at the Lofts on Pearl. Room was very big and comfortable , and was nice to be able to all gather in one room and watch some college ball before heading out dinner.

just some minor issues.... There is a very nice TV in the living room, but no TVs in either bedroom. Also, the rom has zero decorating done. I know not a big deal, just seems a little weird.

But overall would stay again with a group , but prolly not with my family.
