Basically the guy was saying how unhappy he was that they would be stuck with a rookie QB the rest of the season. Give him a shot and let's see this preseason what he can do. He was a great college player and is an athletic freak. Stranger things have happened. Â Best case scenario is he wins the job and you have another playmaker in your offense who is still young. Correct. Our QB situation does not lend itself to journalist analysis. We just have to wait and see what happens on the field. I have no idea, truly, which of the 3 starts in September. Even odds on all three as they all have warts and positives. Cassel was lighting it up last year before he was hurt if he stays healthy Bridgewater never sees the field last year. EJ pretty much got screwed by Marrone trying to win a few extra games to build his resume. And Taylor is simply a complete unknown who has had 4 years of high quality coaching in Baltimore which in theory has cleared up the accuracy issues. Who the freak knows. He could be a Kapernick clone who now has great throwing mechanics . Who knows? We'll know in 90 days.... Â To add to what NoSaint says, there are many more indications that he's the dark horse. Â EJ's the hope. Â Cassel's the organization's worst-case-scenario (and he's a pretty good one at that). Â The thought of Buffalo getting a 'Willy Beamen' type QB--a Cinderella story late round drafted brotha who lights up the league makes me giddy. Â In reality though-- these guys tend to put the ball on the carpet when they're up against NFL defenses. We can hope but there is no significant evidence for that hope. Where I do take issue with the article is the assumptions are based on such a small statistical sample it is pretty meaningless (his comments about accuracy issues in college hold far more weight). It's like saying a baseball player will be a bust if he hits .100 after 5 games. By the same token I think too many assumptions are made about Manuel. He just hasn't played enough games to conclude he cannot become a good QB. With Cassel we know what we have which is pretty much another average QB.
