Head Coach Candidate: Charlie Weis

The Pegula jet set a flight plan to Lawrence, KS this morning leading to the conjecture that the braintrust is interviewing Charlie Weis. Weis, of course, reached his career pinnacle as the offensive coordinator for New England earning three Super Bowl rings. He was rewarded with the head coaching position at his alma-mater Notre Dame. Leaning on previous head coach Ty Willingham's recruiting, ND had consecutive seasons of 9-3 and 10-3 in 2005 and 2006. Then Weis's recruiting became evident with records of 3-9, 7-6, and 6-6 thereafter before the alumni chased him out of South Bend with torches and pitchforks. Weis spent 2010 as OC FOR KC where he had the league's best running offense and he raised Matt Cassell to a career year with 27 TDS AND 5 INTs. The Chiefs went from 4-12 the prior year to 10-6 and a playoff appearance. Inexplicably, he left KC for the University of Florida Oc job where he was unspectacular. His most recent job was as head coach of the Kansas Jayhawks, a recruiting program abyss, where he compiled a 6-22 record over 2+ seasons.

Assuming this is true, it would bring the number of Bills candidates to 12. Clearly better suited for the pro game, can he resurrect an anemic Bills offense?

The linked article discusses the offense Mike McCoy brought to the Chargers and how it was first introduced to the NFL by Charlie Weis. Reich/Weis connection?

Fascinating theory.
