And yet nobody's addressed the fact that Carpenter was already waived from one team and has shown up on our injury list three or four times this year already.

By all means, don't actually think about anything, just blame Marrone.

When in doubt, blame the Doug.

Does everyone believe Mike Williams is actually hurt? He seemed fine at midweek and was expecting to play, then this mysterious calf injury popped up, but he was nowhere to be found to talk about it. I'm thinking this is BS, that Marrone has just decided to shut this kid down. Why, heaven only knows. Or Marrone and Williams know but they're not talking. Why waste a draft pick to trade for a guy, then sit him most of the season?

MW did talk about it as soon as it happened. He said a Bills defender held him on a route when he was running a pattern after he had a couple TDs, and he felt his calf get hurt on the play.

I may be in the minority but I'd much rather dress Jordan Gay than Larry Dean. At least he plays a role. With the Bills defense it's really important to avoid big plays on ST. In addition, it isn't easy to drive 80 yards on that group. I actually think that guys like Gay are the wave of the future. He's a specialist that fits the makeup of this team perfectly. He's coming of his best game of the year as well. I don't understand why people would rather have a 6th or 7th LB than a guy that will actually play an important role?

Right- Id dress gay, and deemphasize coverage guys for other contributors this week. If healthy, Williams over Easley would be an example that comes to mind quick

Easley is great on punts, too. He wouldn't be the guy to sit. Dean seems right to me, or Ty Powell. One of the extra LBs or Frank Summers, who they sat last week and had Gray play some FB.

We're 7-5 playing meaningful games in December for the first time since 2004 and we complain about the about the most consistent player on the team

One might argue there's a slightly amusing bills twist in here that we are 7-5 and out 3rd kicker is our most consistent player in your book. If accurate, it doesn't scream playoffs.

Fair enough - just using two well known names that fit the roles as an example of the philosophy mostly, with Williams hurt anyway.

Carpenter has a groin issue. I don't want him kicking off. Even in Denver.

Lol. And who has the Bills longest TD this year? Wouldn't that be Mike Williams 80 yarder against Houston? I know he's supposedly hurt right now, but there were other games he could've been an asset, mainly against KC. But we dressed our vaunted KO specialist instead. I'm definitely not a proponent of the extra kicker just as 31/32 NFL teams aren't. I always thought Carpenter did a pretty good job on kickoffs last year anyways. So far it has worked out in Marrone's favor, but there is a reason 31 other teams don't have kickoff specialists.

CJ Spiller and his KO return for a TD. But there have only been 6 so those don't matter amirite?

He also implied that he was fine and the calf was nothing. Those things can definitely get worse overnight but then again Marrone can definitely find an excuse/scapegoat with the best of them. Who knows?

FWIW the Bills opponents average starting point (on all drives not just following KO returns) is the 25.69 yard line. That's good for 9th in the league. We're allowing 20 yards per kick return, that's 4th in the league. The kicks that are being returned are deep in the EZ and have good hang time that allow good coverage. I can count off the top of my head at least 5 times when a returner took a ball out and we got them inside their own 10.

Yes again and again and again you have injected this theory of yours which is has as much proof as the world is flat.

Yes who knows when you will show any proof. Certainly not this year.

So 19 was a douche in college and was a douche in TB to the point that they gave him away for virtually nothing. It's completely inconceivable that 19 is the problem here.

Is he really going to waste a roster spot this week in Mile High by utilizing Jordan Gay? I mean Kyle Orton could kick the ball through the endzone in that air. I only heard some of the inactives and I know MW was one, but then someone thought he got banged up in practice? And even if Carp is nursing a groin, I'm sure Schmidt could handle the KO duties. I just don't get how Marrone's brain works sometimes....actually a lot of times. And like I said, I only heard bits and pieces of the injury report/inactives, so I may be way off with my thinking as well.

Brilliant thinking. I wish you were coaching today

I agree with this post (see how easy that was instead of the uber annoying, 'this')

Going into the Denver game 4 of our 6 receivers are on the injury report. The two that are not are 1 catch all year Marquise Goodwin and special teamer Easley. If Williams is not actually hurt, then I would much rather see him in the lineup instead of Gay. Especially in Denver when Carp can easily kick touchbacks and we're going to probably need to air it out, a lot.

Bite me. Only on this board can I go from homer to complainer.

We are wasting a historic defense because of crappy offense. And we have 2 kickers. Awesome.

FWIW, I kinda like the new you, but you did do a complete 180 from years of extreme homerism, on a dime, sometime around week 5.
