ESPN had some guy on last night who they billed as their "NFL front office specialist", because he had some direct experience there. He said that Harbaugh is used to dealing with the media, Harbaugh is good at "holding off" the media, & Harbaugh is the face of the franchise to the media. And you know what? I did watch all of Harbaugh's little presser, and he did do a very good job with it. The other front office guys could have done no better, and they may have even made it worse by saying something stupid. I get what you're saying, and that makes "strategic sense." Is it possible that Rice can reform himself? It's possible. They have a sh-t ton of stuff to work out, though, and there is a power dynamic that she will probably never fully be able to extricate herself from, no matter how contrite he is. "It takes two to tango" is circling back to the victim-blaming dumbassery that suggests she invited a lights out punch in an elevator. Was she physically involved in the altercation? No doubt. Is Ray Rice big and strong enough to control the situation without decking her? Yes, he is. I am sorry. I didn't mean it like that. You are right. I don't want to blame the victim. And as the Senate President, it's his responsibility to get the law changed. We are led by complete retards. New Jersey confirmed that, too - they would have been handing over grand jury evidence, which is illegal as hell. No. The Casino could turn it over to whoever it likes. Grand jury proceedings are confidential but the evidence does not become protected from disclosure by a third party in possession of such evidence just because it was presented to a grand jury. Edit: To expound upon that, just because the prosecution had the tape (if they even did; I haven't heard one way or the other) wouldn't necessarily mean the league had access to it. In criminal cases, the prosecutors can proceed with the case with or without the consent of the victim That is true, but I understand from some lawyer friends that it can be very difficult to prosecute successfully without the testimony of the victim for the prosecution. If the victim says "well, yeah, but he was just defending himself" there is that element of "reasonable doubt" our legal system is bound to respect. To me it's more and more apparent daily that Goodell and the League are seeking to put this whole mess on Ray Rice (who obviously needs to be punished severely as the one who punched his fiancée) and sacrifice him and his career in an effort to save themselves....
