Because he's 31? Dansby is a beast, he led the Dolphins in tackles last year despite playing with a torn bicep most of the season. He may not be on the up swing of his career but he's a player. Even if he's at 60%, he's still better than Sheppard. Would be a good signing IMO. Precisely. To get a guy like Dansby right now would almost make me perform cartwheels. And anyone who would be against this signing based on our current roster needs to have their head examined by NFL/concussion specialists. His NFL resume speaks for itself, and he would inject a ton of experience and attitude to the middle of the LB corps. I am no fan of Sheppard, who would hopefully learn a thing or two from Karlos, so hopefully he enjoys the cuisine at Tempo. Bruce Smiths do not grow on trees, but I will gladly welcome guys into the fold who seem to share Bruce's self-confidence and "I-am-going-to-kick-your-ass" mindset. After reading some of his quotes, Dansby certainly seems to fit the Bill, pun obviously intended. I remember Dansby being one of the 'phins defenders who harassed and abused Trent into a turtle-like state at the Ralph on opening day 2010 (when Miami destroyed us in Chan's first year). Dansby is only 31, got several more productive years left. Played at a high level last year. Led his team in tackles on a solid defense while playing with a torn bicep. I swear, some people just need to complain about everything. This would be a good addition to this team and add a LOT more flexibility draft night. I love this idea of signing him prior to the draft and hope they do. What do you guys have to complain about? Its like people must be making absurd trades and signings on their Madden games and expect that to translate to the NFL too or something. Actually, it will be irrefutable proof that the Patriots, Jets and Dolphins, along with the 28 other teams - you know, the good ones - just didn't want him let alone be fool enough to pay him all that money, whatever it is. But it's an old 31, considering that he has been consistently playing at a high level for several years in a row, was franchised twice, signed a huge FA contract, rarely misses games or plays, and had the most tackles of his career last year. He plays a specific position, so first off the team needs to have a need for Dansby as an upgrade over their existing starter. 2. Then they have to balance how much of an upgrade over their current guy is with how much more money he will make then their existing guy. 3. Then they have to balance that new additional salary with their salary cap. 4. Then they have to figure out how many more holes they have and how much salary cap space will be needed to fill them. 5. Then they have to figure out how much space they need for rookies. 6. Then they have to figure the cap situation for next year and how many potential FA's they have coming up and what cap room they will need for those guys. 7. Then they have to consider who they are targeting draft night...maybe they love a couple LB's who would be young stud prospects at the same position and hope to land one. 8. Then there is the fact the draft is about to happen and FA's price tags will continue to drop. Much like how the Bills have waited until now to bring him in. ETC ETC So its not a cut and dry situation, and not many teams need a Dansby right now. We however desperately need LB help and a guy like Dansby would fill a huge need prior to the draft where we only have 6 picks to fill about 9 holes. The fact he has not been signed yet (and there are a lot of talented players still unsigned besides Dansby on both sides of the ball) has no relevance on whether this guy can help this defense. He has been a productive, very productive playmaker all the way through last year and no reason to believe he couldnt be valuable to our D. PS: Dolphins cut him because they all in on offense with spending TONS of money to get their young QB weapons and had to make a sacrifice to do so. They didnt let him go because he wasnt any good. You're right. Didn't think of that. The only argument against signing him I can think of is the money. I could definitely see him asking for a lot of it. He hasn't signed with anyone else.
