I turned down an offer while unemployed because I thought they were screwing me; 2 weeks later comparable job at another company, 20%+ higher pay. While not chump change, he's not really in a position to refuse work, considering his options are severely limited and his time in the NFL is quickly running out. I had the financial position at the time to have the luxury to do so. My impression is that Trent is a smart guy who either is or hires good financial managers - no high livin' spendthrift there. I'm sure he's in the financial position to turn down a job offer if he wants to. Whether it's true he had the opportunity to turn it down, is another question. He does not love football, so it is not a surprise that he turned down a chance that any real NFL prospect with any love of the game and desperation to play it would have killed to get. I assume he saw state of their Offensive Line and decided it was better for his health and career to wait and take a chance of playing some other time.
