Captain Checkoff

Recommended Posts

In Ed Kilgore's latest offering, he explains why Fitz may be entrenched at starter for the forseeable future, and goes on to explain why Trent was dubbed "Captain Checkoff" ... yes Checkoff. Good effort, Ed. Have yourself a read if you get a minute: Fitz Gives the Bills Hope

"Captain Checkoff" was a nickname that stuck whether he deserved it or not, and while Edwards did have good mobility, he simply couldn't stay healthy.

Captain Checkoff sounds like Russian military, or wasn't that the guy who fired the lasers on the SS Enterprise?

He was no Captain! Anyone should know that he was only an ensign...

Well one could question that because I do believe he eventually did make captain. Wasn't he captain of the Ship that Kahn steals in "The Wrath of Kahn"?? Puts those bug things in his ear? Anyway...LOL

You, sir, are not up to speed on Captain (i.e., Commander) Chekov:

"Chekov also substitutes for Mr. Spock at the science officer station when necessary. His promotion to lieutenant for Star Trek: The Motion Picture brings with it his transfer as the ship's tactical officer and chief of security. By the events of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Chekov has been promoted to commander and executive officer aboard the USS Reliant. In that film, Khan Noonien Singh uses a creature that wraps itself around Chekov's cerebral cortex to control him and his captain. Chekov overcomes the creature's mind control and serves as Enterprise tactical officer in the film's climactic battle against Khan."

It's always bugged me. At the end of 6, why is Chekov retiring while Sulu is off on his own ship?
