Word on the street in Pittsburgh was that Kaye was controlling the shots as to Bill's retirement and whether he would take another coaching job. It is pathetic the way you can take a tragic situation and use it as a defense for a lame owner. Bill Cowher worked years for a very classy and respected ownership in Pittsburgh under the Rooney family. There is absolutely no chance under any cricumstansces that he would seriously consider working for a cantankerous 92 yr old buffoon owner who has for a half century demonstrated his foolishness. One definition of being cantankerous is firing his HC, Phillips, and then refusing to pay him because he didn't want to. His spoiled brat behavior was quickly overturned by the league. An example of being a buffoon is hiring Levy who was out of the NFL and in no way equipped for the position he was hired for because he was comfortable with him. Another example of his buffoonery is to replace him in the GM position and head of football operations with a marketing specialist. The owner has a half century worth of foolishness. dollars 2 donuts Posted July 25, 2010 Share Posted July 25, 2010 Ya know, I'm not sure if Bill was going to comeback to coaching, but you hit that stage in your life where your kids are grown and happy, you have been successful and you just want to relax, like the Cowher's did in eventually moving back to NC and Bill saying I'm done for awhile. These are supposed to be the happy times...54 years old. God Bless the Cowher family and all those families whose lives have felt the full effect of this disease. You can bet if there is a season next year he takes over the Panthers right there in his back yard. Actually his backyard is Pittsburgh. Bill Cowher grew up in Crafton, just outside the downtown Pittsburgh area. Bill moved down to NC to spend time with his girls who were on basketball scholarships there and also to let his wife spend time with her family (who is actually from that area). Actually, you were making a great point, don't back away. Sure the OP was offering an opinion--so were you, as you pointed out how lame his claim that Cowher was a dirtbag for not taking the job. How was Buffalo ever a perfect fit for him? The Bills have a 90+ year old owner that might have eaten his last breakfast today. The Bills haven't sniffed the playoffs in the 21st century. The Bills QB situation is one of the worst in the NFL. The list could go on for days... My condolences to the Cowher family. They are first class in every way. guys, would you relax, he was just saying what he thought about Cowher when he didn't take the Buffalo job and how his feelings have changed since then, and he was sharing his condolences.
