I mean it was a first down until VanDerMark tripped and whiffed on his block. But yeah...maybe a little too much confidence in your backup RT to make that type of athletic play. Against a top 5 team you wouldn't have seen this. Let's stop pretending the Bills usually have these games against good teams. Typically in those games they look like the better team.

Seemed like a pretty normal "softball" question based on the interviews I have seen.

McDermott is a real one and I think when Dunne came out with that hit piece against him a few years back that really was hurtful to him because he takes a lot of pride in trying to be a good person and always do what's best for his players, his team and his family and that he really does care about these players as people first before players. The fact that instead of getting all bent out of shape and yelling and screaming about it that he gave over an hour of his time(and it went way over the alloted time he was supposed to spend with him) to sit down with the person who just wrote that and have an open conversation with him speaks volumes to who he is and the fact his players literally acted like their asses had been lit on fire after that happened and showed what they thought of him speaks volumes as well. I even think Dunne came away impressed with him after that and his respect level went up pretty hugely for him.

Best QB at putting up a bunch of meaningless stats instead of scoring points which is what actually matters.

Evaulation (of this team) after a quarter of season gone
Big Turk replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall
Since the Bills are the 2nd best "Shnowplow" team in the NFL, they need to have a counter like the Eagles just showed for teams...would have been pretty helpful in the Chiefs game last year, IMO... -
Josh McDaniels 2.0 Treat other people like dog crap, talk down to them, make them feel small and that you always have to be smarter than them. Doesn't work so well in the end I think he will find out.
-
Then he needs to earn his jersey. Simple as that. Unless you want them to be a joke team that hands players jobs they don't deserve like many other teams do (who usually are bottom feeders).

Yes...Herbert should be MVP while struggling every week to hit 20 points a game...

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW – At the One-Quarter Mark
Big Turk replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
That team also wasn't decimated with defensive injuries at that point tho. I'm pretty sure the track record of this team over the last 5.5 years should let you know what they are and if not then I'm not sure what you have been watching. This team might be better than any of them by the time it's said and done. They have scored 30 or more points in 14 of the last 15 games Allen has played more than a snap in and make it look effortless. The only one they didn't was against the Pats where they put up 24 ( a "good" day for most teams) and ended with the ball on the Pats 25, so they probably could have got to 30 if they really wanted to. But sure...we have "no clue" who they are yet. Let me tell you who they are...a historically great offensive team that will either end the season at 2nd or 3rd best of all time over any 6 year span in terms of PPG. -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW – At the One-Quarter Mark
Big Turk replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
IMO, this team is so good, and KNOWS they are so good, that they can "pace themselves" against teams in most games. They know they have a Ferrari they can break out and go 200 mph any time they want, but there is no need to waste the engine or fuel against Honda Civics of the league. Simply go 5 mph faster and then hit the gas a little at the end and win comfortably. Other teams(even Eagles) are struggling in these games and winning by a last second FG, many times, Bills just cruise to double digit wins. The Ferrari will come out when they need it. Other games they just show enough for other teams to know they can't keep up (like scoring 30+ for the 14th of the last 15th times Allen has played more than a play). -
My thoughts are the Bills are a Ferrari that realizes to ensure a longer lifespan on the engine you don't need to floor it to 200 mph when you are racing against Honda Civics. You simply need to drive 5 mph faster and then step on the gas a little when needed to coast to victory. Similar to driving a Ferrari where you know how much fuel you have and how far you are away from the nearest gas station, this team is pacing itself which is smart because you cannot burn up that amount of emotional and mental energy every week for 17 weeks and expect to be at your best going into the playoffs. You just can't. Unless you want to see a repeat of the Cincinnati game where the team looked dead from having burnt it all during the year and having nothing left. Stop expecting them to "show what they can do" when it's not needed. I think they have a pretty good grasp on what is needed every game to get the Dub based on their record over the last 5.5 years. The goal is to be peaking heading into the playoffs late in the year, not in week 4.

I mean Khalil Shakir's TD, hello...Cook's TD run against the Jets, hello... those are terrible tackling jobs too...but yet we think the Bills are the only team that struggles with it.

If Only They Could Tackle..It's Not Just the Coaching
Big Turk replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
Except watching the games he has made pivotal plays in key moments almost every game? You actually watching the games or are you on your phone and message board the whole gmae? -
He hasn't earned a jersey on gameday yet in the eyes of the coaching staff. This isn't one of the NFL welfare teams where you just hand out jerseys based on draft position, we are an elite team. You have to earn it regardless of where you are drafted (ask Elam). Good teams force players to earn everything they get. Bad teams hand out jerseys on gameday based on other factors.
-
This is not a normal thing, they usually are exceptional with saving timeouts...McDermott says they are like "gold" in terms of value at the end of games and we typically have all of them. Let's just call it what it is and say it wasn't an exceptionally sharp game in many aspects and that's not the norm.

Evaulation (of this team) after a quarter of season gone
Big Turk replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall
And 3rd week in a row of not allowing 300 yards to an opponent, in which they have averaged 243 yards given up and 16.5 PPG. People acting like we are giving up 400+ yards and 35 PPG like we are the Ravens D need to get an actual clue. -
More concerning than Bosa not doing well on the edge is why the hell are there constantly plays where he is the only defender in the picture until the player is 10 yards down the field after they outflank him? Where is the next level of defense that is so often talked about as running to the football? Seems like the problem is more that there is nobody else there once he forces the RB to hesitate and then jump outside to string him out.

Big Turk replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
Are there things to improve? Of course...especially on the run D, and namely with allowing QB's wide open rush lanes which has hurt us a lot this year, even with QBs that don't run much like Tua. What I am not going to sit here and listen to is some "doom and gloom" nonsense when over the last 3 weeks the D has allowed an average of 16.5 PPG and 243 yards of offense and no team has even hit 300 yards. Have some freaking perspective and watch other games to have it. If your only argument is The Bills D sucks but you don't watch any other games to see what it looks like in comparison to other teams, your opinion isn't worth much. -
The Worthy Trade Keeps Looking Worse and Worse

IMO, the Bills are the closest to that -

The record is 4-0 and 1 of only 2 unbeaten teams left in the NFL. That's the only evaluation that matters. Anything else is meaningless until the playoffs get here. -
The Worthy Trade Keeps Looking Worse and Worse

I'd say that it was more the Ravens defense being trash and having multiple additional starters on D go down injured than Worthy.- 725 replies

C- Bills looked unfocused and undisciplined but at the end of the day Josh Allen just did Josh Allen things when they needed it.

Technically it could be K-Gun 2.0 since the K stood for McKeller, the TE who had WR like athleticism...in this case it would be Kincaid.
