  1. And yes, he did say it in an "all caps" type of way. His Bills/Dolphins preview was just 5 minutes of talking about how much he loved the bills. Some talking points: -Kawika Mitchell is a playmaker, but also a leader who can help Poz with his development -Lee Evans is one of the best WRs in the game. Turk Schonert deserves a lot of credit for using evans in different ways and lining him up all over the field. -Stats dont tell the story when it comes to the pass rush. Not a lot of sacks, but if you watch the film you see hits on the qb causing 3rd down incomplete passes and some picks -Stats dont tell the story when it comes to Marshawn. Always finds a way to get positive yards, picks up the big first downs in short yardage, gets stronger in the 4th quarter and can wear down a defense. -And last but not least: THE BILLS ARE NOT GOING AWAY (repeat x3)
  2. They're interviewing him as part of their Bills/Phins preview
  3. They're average. The dolphins game was a unique situation because the unveiled that wild cat offense for the first time and the pats were completely caught off guard. You cant underestimate the effect it has on a team when you have to completely throw your gameplan out the window. On the other hand, the broncos were able to move the ball pretty easily early, but got in a deep hole because of turnovers and had to play catch up.
  4. Mine too. As painful as it was, I had to bet on the pats -3 last night. I hate rooting for those a-holes, but I like making money even more. The fact is, you can't win games against well coached teams, especially on the road, if you have ZERO run defense, and anyone who watched the broncos play jacksonville or san diego (two teams who had no prayer of running the ball against us), saw what a pathetic run defense looks like. I haven't seen a run d that bad since the 05 bills. Denver will be able to win some games by outscoring teams when everythings clicking for them on offense. Hell, it might even happen against us. But no way a team with that defense is going to win games consistently. That was apparent before last night, and its blatantly obvious now.
  5. For the most part these two teams were mirror images today. Both defenses stopped the run and didn't give up big plays. Both defenses had trouble getting pressure on the qb. Both qbs were accurate, efficient, and able to take what the defense gave them. The difference was the three turnovers. Thats why the bills are a better team, they were opportunistic on d and mistake free on O. When the talent level is about equal that will make the difference. Great all around team victory by buffalo.
  6. The fish are awful Willis destroyed them today Breakout game for Lynch
  7. Two dogs getting double digit points (Pitt, Ore st) on "upset thursday". I'll get a consensus from the board tomorrow on whether or not missing rings is worth watching, then maybe catch it on reruns.
  8. When he got traded to Baltimore didn't he make a point of saying that he was going to work out with the team during the offseason instead of doing his own thing in Miami like he did when he played for the Bills. I remember reading something about that.
  9. Wow, tony mandarcih admits to using steroids and clay aiken comes out of the closet in the same week. I'm in complete shock, i just don't know what to think anymore.
  10. I think Hardy will add a new dimension to the offense and make plays that smaller receivers couldn't (i.e. the td in jacksonville). However, the consensus on the board going into the draft was that we needed a tall receiver to draw attention away from evans. I'm now starting to think that personnel wasn't the problem. Having a qb and an offensive coordinator that will go to slot receivers and tight ends consistently in the passing game is more important to getting Lee single coverage than having a big wideout. Hardy has had a very limited role so far, but because of reed, royal, and roscoe (R cubed) stepping up and being more featured in the offense, Lee is getting a lot more one on one chances.
  11. I could've sworn last night philadelphia got a 5 yard illegal formation penalty and chicago got 15 yard roughing the punter penalty on the same play, and the penalties offset and they replayed 4th down from the same spot. I've played and watched football my entire life, and these offsetting penalties still confuse the heck out of me sometimes.
  12. The thing that I'm excited about even more than the 4-0 start is that we have looked as good as anyone in the AFC. Denver and san diego have looked down right horrid on defense at several times this year. You think our o-line has looked bad at times? Ask a steeler fan how they feel about theirs! The ravens and titans are getting very little out of their passing game. colts, pats, jags, jets, etc. etc. you can find some obvious weaknesses in all of them. Of course we can look at any bills game this year, or even the first four games as a whole this year and say "we haven't played very well in this area". But every afc team except the titans can say "we haven't played very well in this area and it cost us a game". We can't. I'll put it this way: Is there a team in the afc right now, where you think we just don't have the talent to match up with them. Where you'd say, this team would either run circles around us (i.e. pats last year), or this team would physically manhandle us (i.e. steelers last year)? I don't think so. We do have our flaws, but I honestly believe top to bottom we are as good as anybody in the AFC right now, this could be an exciting year.
  13. I dont think I read one preview of the bills from a national outlet that didn't have a tornto joke in there. I dont think its offensive, but its very annoying. The situation with the toronto games is what it is, and a sportswriter or blogger taking cheapshots isn't going to change it one way or the other. It just hacky and unoriginal and annoying to have to read the same "jokes" over and over again if you want to read anything from the national media about the bills.
  14. Why would you base your opinion of how someone is playing based on what other players have told you instead of just watching the film and forming your own opinion. Does this guy have a brain of his own? I think this sums it up best: http://kissingsuzykolber.uproxx.com/2007/1...ports-that.html
  15. The run defense has been great. The last 3 years, no matter who the other teams feature back was, you could pencil in 100 yards for them before the game started. This year, no team has rushed for 100, and no single back has rushed for more than 55. This is also against two teams with very good running games (oakland and jax) who had the lead and were trying to kill clock for much of the second half. Trent is getting a lot of credit for the 4th quarter comebacks, and its well deserved, but I think that the run defense deserves a lot of credit as well. In 05-07, if a team had a lead with under 5 mins, they could run the ball for a couple first downs, make us burn our time outs, and seal the game. Now, we're shutting down the run in the second half and giving our offense a chance to come back, it's great to see.
  16. I probably phrased that wrong. What I was getting at is that I think the Buffalo crowd creates a hostile environment for visitors 100% of the time, and for our own team maybe 1% of the time. Jets and Eagles fans on the other hand create just as hostile an environment for the home team as they do for the visitors.
  17. I will say that is one thing I love about being a buffalo fan, we don't boo our own players. I've been to a couple of blowouts at the ralph, and we've had some bad teams recently, but I've never seen the crowd turn on our players. I go to the bills/jets game every year at the meadowlands, and its unbelievable. People can't wait for their team to screw up so that they can let them hear it. Philly and boston same thing, even though the pats* have won 3 superbowls this decade.
  18. All of the teams that have won the big one recently (Giants, Indy, Pats*, Steelers), have done it the same way. Built their foundation through the draft, then filled in the rest of the pieces with good FA acquistions or trades. Not necessarily with the biggest name available, but with the guy who best fit their system. The jets went the Al Davis/Dan Snyder rout and just signed all the biggest names out there, and they will have the same level of success.
  19. That young group will all be playing against each other in big games for a long time, could be a great era for the NFL. Notable ommissions form that list: Leinart, Young, Smith (and rightly so)
  20. Especially considering he didn't even study film when he played When Dave Campo, the Cowboys new defensive coordinator, asked the $35 million man to break down a play, Sanders let out a sly laugh. "Hey, Coach," he said, pointing toward the screen, "I got that dude right there. Wherever he goes I go. All that Cover Two stuff you're talking about -- y'all work that out." http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...mp;sportCat=nfl
  21. No, but what makes him an idiot is the fact that he's an nfl analyst and never gives any specific analysis. You can tell the guys who watch the film and break it down (Collinsowrth, Marriucci, Tom Jackson), and the guys who just watch the highlights of a few games and wing it (Emmit Smith, Marshall Faulk). I can't stand the guys who have the best job in the world (to watch football) and won't even do it. It is good to see that the guys who have watched more than 1 or 2 plays of bills football this year like the team.
  22. When they showed that stat about how favre has never won a game when he's been down 14, all of the announcers were in shock. They've been so busy building up his legendary status that they conveniently forget the fact that even in his prime, when he's playing from behind, he tries to force it, throws picks, and puts his team into a deeper hole. Always has, still does. San diego has dropped two easy ints in this game, brett should have at least 4 or 5 tonight.
  23. I didn't get that either, and the even crazier thing was that the raiders didn't use their time outs before the bills kicked the fg. After the bills got the first down that put them into comfortable fg range, if the raiders had used both of their timeouts, they still would've had about a minute left after the bills kicked their fg. If the bills had missed, the raiders still could've taken a knee because buffalo only had 1 time out left. Lane's clock management is very suspect.
