  1. 1:44pm Doesn't matter, he sucks anyway! 1:50 pm No he doesn't, give him a chance! 1:53 PM Why, J.P. never got a chance, he's got all the tools, the coaches screwed him up! 1:55 PM They're both busts, wait a year and draft Tebow, hes a winner!!! Just thought I'd get that out of the way, now back to the topic at hand...
  2. You don't read this board very often, do you?
  3. Dawkins would definitely be a step down from those two as far as coverage, especially scott whose coverage ability was a very pleasant surprise this year. As far as the other stuff, I think if we want to punish runners we should look to do it by upgrading the front seven, not the secondary.
  4. Ray Lewis definitely, Brian Dawkins, as I said is a liability in coverage right now. He gets away with it because the eagles pass rush is so good that recievers don't have time to beat him deep, if he was on the bills I think he'd get exposed. He's still very good at coming up to stop the run and rushing the passer, but when it comes down to it he's a safety that can't cover any more.
  5. Anyone who thinks that Brian Dawkins or Ray Lewis is still an above average NFL player watches too much sportscenter and not enough of the actual games. Both might be all time greats, but are simply average right now (except when it comes to "expressing emotion")
  6. Oh, then we definitely should've kept him, kick and punt returners are clearly the Bills' most pressing need.
  7. You guys have to be kidding me, do you have any idea how awful brian dawkins would look with the bills cover two scheme/awful pass rush. On that one deep pass to steve smith he was about 7 seconds late getting over. Brian Dawkins WAS an unbelievable all around safety and still is amazing at coming up from the secondary against the run. However, he has lost a step (or two) over the past few years and is a liablity in coverage at this point. If it wasn't for Jim Johnson he would be exposed for this a lot more often.
  8. Its all about pass rush. Look at the chargers secondary, last year when Merriman was there they were all-stars. This year for most of the season they were a laughing stock. I'm not trying to discredit leohnard, I think he's very opportunistic, and I dont think you could put any safety in the world there and he'd do just as well, BUT when the opposing QB's mentality is "gotta get rid of the ball before I get killed, don't throw it near Ed reed", it presents a lot more opportunities for the secondary. I mean look at Sam freakin Madison last year, and even Will Allen this year. These are borderline terrible players who were able to make some big plays. Long story short, a good pass rush makes a secondary look better, a bad pass rush makes them look worse, so just keep that in mind when comparing Lehonard to Ko/Donte.
  9. I believe they had a competition last week to see who could screw up worse and Jauron just barely beat him out
  10. I know that was the concept behind the call, but I still think its ridiculous. He had his hand on the guy's shoulder pad for less than a quarter of a second, its not like he tackled him out of the way. That could be called on literally every single pass play of any level of football and you never ever see it get called, and the fact that it happened on a play where we end up getting a pick, just seemed like it could've been a backbreaker, i give a lot of credit to the team for not folding after that.
  11. I mean seriously W..T...F. I know this was a meaningless game, but it was still fun to see em fight on the road in the cold and pull out the W and I would've been extremely pissed off if the game was stolen from them on that call. Officially the worst call I've seen, ever, because it wasn't like the ref had to make a split decision, he just decided to throw a flag for absolutely no reason. Once again, I'm happy about the win, but that call had me speechless for a good 5 minutes, never seen anything like it, even the B.S. call in the new england game was worse because it was against a pulling guard not while being double teamed on a pass play, I mean...wow...why would any ref ever feel a need to throw a flag there. That is all. P.S. GO BILLS!
  12. http://deadspin.com/5112417/chicks-with-gu...amboroo-week-16 "Fire This !@#$! Is there anything more exciting than a coach losing his job? All year long, we’ll keep track of which coaches will almost certainly get fired at year’s end or sooner. And now, your updated chopping block: Jim Haslett Tom Cable Rod Marinelli Herm Edwards Norv Turner Dick Jauron Romeo Crennel Gary Kubiak Jack Del Rio Mike McCarthy Marvin Lewis Jim Zorn Dick Jauron should have been on here ages ago, and now he’s signed a contract extension. A contract extension? Are you !@#$ing kidding me? Nothing says “we’re saving money now so we can prepare for a move to Toronto/LA/San Antonio/London/Kandahar” quite like giving that guy an extension. Why not just abandon the head coach position for the team altogether? It’s not as if they could do any worse. Every play could just be 32 BEEF MOE."
  13. "You see, Ralph Wilson brought me in here to quash any lingering spirit in these seemingly indefatigable Bills fans so he can relocate them to another, more economically sound and glamorous, city. Like Oklahoma City, maybe. Bills fans are a tenacious lot, though. They’ve experienced so much pain. Won’t be licked easily. We did a great job of stringing these saps along, but the way we’re dropping sure victories on a weekly basis, there’s no way these fans have any semblance of patience or hope left." Its funny cuz its true
  14. The thing is trent's injury might have bought him his ticket out of the league. If JP didn't see the field this year someone might've taken a chance on him, figuring he has some untapped potential. Now he'll have to compete for a 3rd string job somewhere at the league minimum.
  15. It seems like Marshawn is the type of guy who doesn't make excuses, just plays his ass off and does his best to help the team win. As he showed by his comments this week, when things are going wrong he looks at himself to try to turn things around. For a team guy like that it must be very frustrating wondering what he could've done better, but knowing in his heart that he did everything he could but his qb/coaches let him down. I would take 22 guys with his heart, determination, and attitude every day of the week. I hope that this season doesn't have him looking for the first ticket out of town, but I wouldn't blame him if it did.
  16. Congratulations, you completely missed my point. ON DRAFT DAY most people liked the hardy pick. Its easy to criticize after the fact, but the consensus seemed to be that it was a good pick AT THE TIME, re-read my original statement
  17. The results haven't been great right off the bat, but hindsight is 20/20, at the time it looked like the personnel dept did a pretty good job this offseason. I know some disagreed, but the overwhelming consensus on this board, among bills fans in general, and around the league was that the stroud, mitchell, johnson moves were all great and mckelvin and hardy were very good picks. The one glaring error was the crowell situation, but I dont think any of us know even half of the details involved in that one so we'll have to reserve judgement.
  18. I had infinitely more interest in the 3rd preseason game. I actually watched all the preseason games this year for the first time (because it was the first year I knew about that website with the live feeds and I have NFL network), I was sure this was gonna be the year we were gonna go back to the playoffs and the 5-1 start just got my hopes up even more. But I've learned my lesson, I'm not devoting my full attention to this team again until late september '09 when JJ putz and K-rod get injured in the same game, a 1-0 10 inning loss to the nationals that puts us 1 loss behind the phillies for the division lead.
  19. That's wrong, because there was still a minute left and the browns had 3 time outs. If you're losing by 3, 2, or 1 in that situation you've gotta try for the td or at least to get a first down so you can kick the FG with under :15 left. Even if you make the FG you don't want to give the other team too much time to come back. Lovie had it right, Dick had it wrong by any type of logic or conventional wisdom.
  20. How does the win vs. tie scenario change the strategy? Either way you need to score at least a FG or you lose.
  21. Bears got to about the 30 of the saints last night with just over 1 minute left, down by 3, 1 time out remaining, at home on a cold windy day, primetime game, shaky qb who had thrown some costly INTs already that game, what do the bears do? Throw some short passes to the flat and the middle of the field and get all the way down to the 10 and kick the FG with 7 seconds left then win in OT. I'm just saying, its not that hard, its really not, god I hate Jauron.
  22. Try spamming a site whose fans dont hate every single player, coach, executive, and owner associated with their team right now, those fans might be more willing to buy merchandise.
  23. I think Wade Phillips is an example of the opposite point. The cowboys cant win a playoff game and they have 52 pro bowlers (estimated number)
  24. Agreed, I know Jauron wasn't put in the best of circumstances, but I think he is a ridiculously bad coach. I mean, the guy calls timeouts to think about whether he wants to challenge plays. Just think about that for a second. His clock management, his gameplan, his philosophy, they're just atrocious. I don't even care about the apparent lack of emotion, I'm just saying he must be the dumbest guy in the history of the Ivy League.
  25. I gotta disagree on that one. The fact is, the majority of fans that spend their money to go to the games, that buy the team's merchandise, that watch the team on TV so advertisers will buy commercial time during the game, the people that fund the existence of the team and the league, expect their team and its ownership/management to put forth a winning effort. Buffalo does respect a winning effort even if the team doesn't go all the way, but if they fans are gonna spend their money so that the owner can profit, they do have the right to have their money spent on competent execs/coaches/players. Once again, we're not the yankees, we don't consider it a failure if we don't win it all, we're just asking for a team that's relevant and we haven't been for almost an entire decade now.
