  1. Ellis Hobbs came in on a corner blitz, nailed Losman and knocked the ball loose. Jarvis Green recovered on the Bills 35 and New England was poised to take an early lead. They did just that but only by a 24-yard field goal by Stephen Gostkowski. The Patriots had three tries from first and goal but a Maroney run for a loss of one and two Brady incompletes caused by good Bills coverage forced the field goal unit on the field. With Losman on the sideline working out his sore knee, the Bills were forced to bring in Trent Edwards, a rookie out of Stanford. Edwards did more than just an adequate job, driving the Bills 80 yards for the game's first touchdown. He hit Roscoe Parrish for 13 yards on third and 8 from the 44 and then followed up that play with a 21 yard completion to Josh Reed down to the Patriots 22. On third and 8 from the 8, Lynch bulled his way in, breaking two tackles along the way and Buffalo took a 7-3 lead late in the first quarter. The first quarter ended with the Patriots on the Bills 30-yard line due mainly to a Faulk 11-yard run on a nice counter play and a 15-yard penalty on the Bills Angelo Crowell for unnecessary roughness. Despite that, the Patriots offense suddenly looked a little out of sorts. Faced with a fourth and 7 from the 29, New England went for the first down but Brady's pass to Faulk was a yard short of the stick and the Bills took over. After that the starters were removed, so here's what we can tell. The Bills are clearly a better team than the pats both offensively and defensively. Trent edwards will carve up secondaries with his percise passing all year and the bills will be deadly in the redzone thanks to marshawn lynch. The defense will stop the run consistently and brady will have a very tough time finding open receivers, especially in the redzone thanks to buffalo's outstanding secondary. If the starters played the entire game, buffalo would win 28-12.
  2. What's annoying me about all of this is that people aren't thinking about the fact that teams don't game plan for preseason games. During the regular season all the coaches are in the office breaking down film, numbers, tendencies, etc. til 3am every day to get ready for their specific opponent. Then they have a scout team giving the starters a look based on these things, the coaches create a gameplan based on these things. In the preseason they don't gameplan for their opponent, they just have a set list of plays/players that they want to look at, nothing more, nothing less. I'll go as far as to admit that it can be a little disheartening to see some of the same problems from last year, but to think that it has ANY implications on the regular season is utterly ridiculous.
  3. From the steelers games I watched last year I've gotta agree with Gordio here, Feneca's been regressing for 3 years now. I woudn't say he was a liability last year, but he certainly wasn't dominant. I think the Jets should've signed Nick Mangold's sister, she is a beast!
  4. No he's not, someone would've started a thread about it by now if he was
  5. I watched the game too and I've gotta say, no way dorsey ever makes it to the league if he wasn't fortunate enough to have the most stacked college team of all time. How he's still hanging around is a mystery, he's pretty awful.
  6. I'll definitely have to come check it out. My family and I have been watching the games at o'reily's in maplewood for about 10 years now. Its not a bills bar, but there's a group of about 15 bills fans that are regulars. But we always like to find out about new places, the last couple of years we've caught some games at Mcfaddens in NYC and the bills bar in hoboken (the shannon). I'll let my dad know, and we'll def schedule a trip or two out to Patterson this year. thanks for the info.
  7. Exactly, he was one more piece added to an already great situation, he didn't have to carry a new team on his back, its a much different situation. And obviously Favre is used to a media circus, but the Jets aren't. This team really does fly under the radar around here. Now, they're gonna dominate the sports page every day. A-rod and Madonna could walk down 5th avenue right now holding hands wearing nothing but gold thongs, and Favre would still be the front page story. I think the distraction and added pressure will be tough for the jets to deal with.
  8. As a fellow New Jerseyan my #1 concern about this situation is how much this is going to drive the ticket prices up for jets games. Last year I was able to get lower level seats and parking passes for 45 bucks a piece on stub hub and most of the jets fans left a tie game in the 4th quarter to protest chad pennington and we could go down to the front row for Losman to Evans. Now no matter how bad the jets are, they're gonna sell out, and I'm gonna have to pay more for tickets to the Bills game.
  9. Did you really just compare Favre to the Jets with Moss to the Patriots??? That's complete insanity. Were the Pats 4-12 in '06? Did Moss miss most of training camp and have to learn to run a new offense a month before the season? Is Moss 38 years old? The pats were a 3 time superbowl champion with no name receivers and were a 2nd half collapse away from another AFC championship in 06. I'll agree with you that the Bills can't count any team as an automatic win considering they haven't made the playoffs in a long time and a lot of the teams we are counting on beating count us as an automatic win. That being said, Favre to the Jets has not changed my view that I feel very good about this team having a winning season.
  10. I was at the game against the packers in '06. It was pretty insane, about 20,000 cheeseheads who followed Favre to every away game that year for his "final season" were there. Favre handed us the game with picks to fletcher (pick 6) and Simpson (in the endzone) when we couldn't stop the pass rush or the running game.
  11. I think it would be a huge distraction for them. They have a lot of new players and the media circus around here would be absolutely insane if favre came, he wouldn't have much time to learn the playbook, and it would be hard for everyone to stay focused. There would also now be a ton of pressure on a team that no one expects much from right now. It could work out for the best. And he does throw a lot of picks. I'm not exactly hoping for it, but I could see how it could work to our advantage.
  12. I'll be at shea stadium watching the New York Mets battle the Florida Marlins for NL east supremacy (Philly sucks, they will be in third place by saturday)
  13. No, the one guy just wanted to beat him up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PVGRKkQ7co -You think you can steal from us and just walk away?! -yea hahahhahah
  14. I enjoy it. I play fantasy football and wager on games because I like watching football for 12 hours every sunday and it creates an added level of interest in the other games. However, I watch every single second of bills games and never let the other games that i bet on/have fantasy implications distract me from the bills. I really think the fantasy blow up wouldn't bother me at all if everyone at sports bars could remember one simple thing: NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR FANTASY TEAMS. Just watch the game with fellow fans of your team, cheer them on, and everyone will be fine. Hearing people yell about fantasy does get annoying.
  15. Even better, I worked as a janitor, excuse me, custodian on campus during the summers, ahhhh the good old days
  16. I have to agree with the majority on this one. Also, Obama's stance on raising the capital gains tax despite the fact that statistical evidence indicates that when the capital gains tax is lower, people invest more, make more, and more money ends up going to the government also makes me think that he's not the guy to fix our economy. Unfortunately, neither is McCain, he's out of touch and all of his speeches indicate that he can't grasp any of the more complex matters that effect the market in this day and age. Ron Paul in 2012!
  17. We did go to one of the top academic universities in the country, where we made friends with some of the dumbest people in the world, go figure.
  18. Are you kidding me with Jauron in that panama jack hat. Is that a joke to loosen things up or does he seriously think that he doesn't look ridiculous.
  19. I'm not sure if a university of Arkansas degree qualifies you for that
  20. Good recap! I'm happy to hear that Stroud is looking like a beast. He's got some very high expectations, and coming off an injury I was a little nervous about him. If we can stop the run for the first time since '04 nothing would make me happier and it would do wonders for our young secondary. I'm sick and tired of teams pounding the ball down our throat in the 4th quarter.
  21. Yea, that was too bad, he was coming along, I liked him a lot as well
  22. I think thats a good choice, Williams started to really come around last year and that was playing nose which isn't his natural position. Hopefully, with stroud being the one taking on double teams this year, Kyle will shine. He's going to be just as important as anybody if the Bills are going to stop the run for the first time since '04.
  23. That would be a double positive if Willis flopped in b'more and it lead to a chance for Ray Rice. Watching Ray put the Rutgers offense on his back every week, he's an easy kid to root for. I'm happy to hear that he's looking impressive in camp, and the fact that its at the expense of Willis is icing on the cake.
  24. Don't get hardy, I feel like everyone (including myself) getting a poz jersey last year jinxed him, get a Melvin Fowler
