  1. I would not want to give him that much money on a 3yr deal. I'd sign him for 1-2 at about $2.5-3m per year and make him prove he can healthy. I would rather have Kirk Chambers at LT then pay Bell $10.7m for 1 year.
  2. if they expect us to do the unexpected, it really isn't unexpected
  3. If the 3rd best OT is rated better than any of the other players then, Yes I want to get him.
  4. Like when Chan and Buddy said they wanted a "water bug" running back and then fooled everyone and took Spiller.
  5. What did Buddy say that makes you think Martin is the target? I haven't seen or heard the interview so I am curious as to what was said. They do seem to be willing to give more insight into their targets than most teams do. They totally telegraphed the Spiller pick and were pretty obvious last year as well (although last year's pick of Dareus was pretty much a no brainer)
  6. I think a tons of teams could pull off something like this: Raiders Steelers Cowboys Redskins Jets Giants All have huge bases. Heck even the Bills could rake in a bunch of cash off of a scheme like this. Thousands of Bills faithful would buy shares. I know I would be a few. The bigger issue is that this whole thing probably should not even be legal. They are in effect selling useless currency for real dollars. On the other hand, people are selling stars and carbon credits to unsuspecting suckers. The old saying "A fool and his money are soon parted" seems appropriate here.
  7. this is a pretty cool thing, but it is really an unfair competitive advantage for the Packers basically getting $67m in free money
  8. seems like a player who would fit what we need
  9. Looking at stats from last year, Ward would have been our 3rd best statistical WR (I looked at catches, TDs, First downs, and Yards). It's not like our roster is full of guys who are better, even at this late stage of his career.
  10. I see what you are saying about giving up a young player for an aging vet. it is a fine line. But in this case, I think Ward would bring more to the team than Aiken or Jones ever will. With regard to your other point, I disagree. Having a WR sit in on meetings, review game tape, talk to them about preparation, share his experiences (good and bad) would be an amazing, immeasurable asset to young receivers like Stevie, Easley, Nelson and any young player we brought in. I realize that Hines is not physically what he was even just 1-2 years ago, but I think he would still be a good addition at a reasonable price. Similar to what Lofton brought to the Bills years ago. I don't think you can ever have enough leaders on the team.
  11. so cut one of Easley, Aiken or Jones, Easley's health is a big ? Jones and Aiken are just depth guys anyway. There are 1000 guys like them that we could grab off the street in a pinch.
  12. I think there is always room on the roster for a veteran leader. From what I read, the young receivers on the Steelers idolize him. We would still have a bunch of WRs to play ST. The only ones who wouldn't would be Stevie and Hines The other thing Hines brings to the table that goes unnoticed is his blocking. Even if he is not putting up the catches like he used to, his blocking would be a big asset to the running game. And his attitude would be a plus too.
  13. The guy is a future Hall of Famer, the least you could do is spell his name correctly if you want your poll to be taken seriously. I don't think he has much left in the tank but if he wanted to come in as a #4 or #4 receiver for the veteran minimum that would be great. He'd be a good mentor for Stevie. Maybe we re-sign Stevie, draft a kid in Rd2 and sign Ward. Stevie Draft Choice Nelson Ward Jones Easley Aiken Pretty solid WR corps
  14. Buddy's email address is "asleepatthewheel@ralphischeap.com"
  15. I think free agency and signing our own players will have a huge effect on what we do in the draft. Another factor will obviously be what players are taken before we pick. There is lots of time between now and the draft for players to get hurt or get into trouble so the players ranking will probably change a lot by draft day. That is my long way of saying that there is absolutely no way for anybody to know what will happen with that pick.
  16. I think he's a 3-4 DE, right? I don't think he would fit our D.
  17. If Stevie re-signs and Welker and Bowe get tagged, the list of available UFA WR's becomes a lot thinner and the guys you mention become the top available guys and not simply "mid-tier" free agents.
  18. I say if they both stay healthy they will get close but not go over 2k
  19. I forgot about Kirwan. I like him too. Very knowledgeable.
  20. I would be surprised if Edwards is not cut
  21. I am in the same boat as you. I don't follow college ball too much. The big thing I always keep in mind is that all of these evaluatios are opinions. Some guys put more value on one aspect or another. So I like to read as many mock dradts and player rankings as I can. But I don't give them a lot of credit individually. But when you consistently read the same thing about a player, you start to get a sense of the general feeling on that player. If you just listen to 2 guys argue their opinions (Kiper vs McShay) you don't get the full picture. But to simply answer your question. The guys I respect most are: Mayock Casserly Gil Brandt Rick Gosselin
  22. Mario Williams is pretty big. Just saying.
  23. Rd 1-7: The best available Defensive Back
  24. Seems like Buffalo fans are impossible to please. If the team doesn't do anything they are criticized. If they make moves that don't work perfectly, they are criticized. Unless the win a championship every year and every player on the team makes the HOF, people will whine and complain. Atleast the Sabres made an effort. It hasn't worked perfectly but they are trying. The Bills have to prove that they are willing to try too.
  25. Glad to hear that discussions are ongoing. If earlier reports are correct, they don't really seem that far apart. I am optimistic that he will sign before UFA starts despite the numerous guarantees on TBD that is is "GONE"
